After an early morning pitch inspection and excellent work from the ground staff this game went ahead and produced an entertaining spectacle that the visitors shaded with two second half goals.

Clevedon produced a chance on 11 minutes when clever work from Toby Yeates intercepted the ball just outside the penalty area and played it through for Isaac Reid whose shot was well held by Mike Searle in the Willand goal.

Willand responded in the 12th minute when Angus Wilson’s attempted chip landed on top of the net.

On 13 minutes Jake Harris collected the ball on the left before cutting inside and laying the ball off to Alex Camm whose shot went over the bar.

Clevedon were awarded a free-kick just outside the box on 16 minutes and Sam Downe’s shot was well held by Mike Searle.

A great move in the 21st minute saw Alex Camm chip the ball over the visiting defence to Isaac Reid who trapped the ball on his chest before swivelling and volleying at goal but to the disappointment of the home supporters the ball flew over the bar.

Willand won a free-kick on 25 minutes which skipper Brett Worbey took and hit wide of goal.

Jake Harris made progress into the box in the 29th minute before cutting the ball back to Isaac Reid whose shot went over the bar thanks to an unfortunate bobble as he connected.

Willand started to get more into the game and a cross from the left by Ryan Guppy on 30 minutes found Jason Kennard and his glancing header went wide.

In the 39th minute a slip by Kaine Gazzard saw Jason Kennard through on goal but Sam Burgess was out quickly to smother the shot and avert the danger.

The final chance of the first half fell to Ian Patchett but he could only shoot wide when well placed.

Willand created the first chance of the second half on 52 minutes when Angus Wilson’s shot was well saved by Sam Burgess.

Willand took the lead in the 55th minute. A long ball from the back saw Jason Kennard contesting the header with Glen Hayer with the Willand man winning the tussle before playing the ball through for Brett Worbey to shoot low into the corner of the net to make the score 0-1.

Willand could have extended their lead on 72 minutes when a cross from Fletcher Williams was headed over by Angus Wilson with the goal at his mercy.

On 83 minutes a Sam Downe free-kick was met by Toby Yeates but his downward header was cleared before anyone in a blue and white shirt could get a touch.

Willand doubled their lead in the 87th minute. The ball was played through for Jason Kennard to chase and with the home sides appeals for offside ignored Sam Burgess raced out to clear. Unfortunately the Clevedon keeper slipped as he attempted to clear and the ball ran through for Jason Kennard to shoot home from an acute angle and make the score 0-2.

Willand created another opportunity on 89 minutes when a cross from the left by substitute Matt Dawson saw Brett Worbey blast wide.

The final action of the game saw a shot from Toby Yeates blocked and Archie Ferris hit the loose ball over the bar.
