“Disappointed with the lack of quality displayed by the players, credit to Crayke as they were deserving of a draw.” – The words of Cliffe FC manager, Keith Tiplady, as his side drew for the sixth time this season.
Crayke opened scoring on the 10th minute when their #9 broke the offside-trap and lofted the ball over oncoming ‘keeper, Ally Harris, to go 1-0 ahead. Harris was called into action again, this time making a quality save to keep Crayke’s tally at one. Cliffe’s quality stuttered as they rarely showed the footballing quality they’re capable of but, having had a shot from Ian Beckram cleared off the line on the half hour mark, the teams went into the break level as Alan Jackson set up little brother Chris for 1-1, Chris heading the ball past the ‘keeper and into the net, 1-1 HT.

Both sides looked capable of scoring second half and within minutes of Andy Addison having a shout for a penalty turned down, Crayke #9 pounced on a defensive error and poached a goal to make it 2-1 to the away side and it all to do for Cliffe. Keith Tiplady had, by now, introduced all his subs with less than 10 minutes left on the clock. Crayke’s ‘keeper kept his side in front, saving efforts from Adam Durnin and Chris Jackson. Andy Addison’s tenacity was rewarded as he nicked the ball from the Crayke defender on the edge of the box and rifled a thunder shot cross past the ‘keeper from the tightest of angles to earn Cliffe FC a point, 2-2 FT.
