Notts Alliance Champions NEWARK FLOWSERVE were the biggest winners on the opening day of the season

They disposed of ARNOLD TOWN 8-0 thanks to four goals in the last 13 minutes. The Eagles, reprieved from relegation, made a poor start and were three goals down in the first eleven minutes as a brace from Dan Meadows and an own goal set the home side on their way. Solomon Miller added the fourth on 58 minutes before Sam Agar lead the late blitz with Dan Meadows adding two more, to make him the early league leading scorer, and Mustapha John completing the rout.

Hat tricks from Dan Fletcher and Matt Wilkinson saw TEVERSAL launch another early title bid by seeing off West Bridgford to the tune of 6-1. Both the hat-trick hero’s score once in the first half and twice in the second. There could be a really good race for the Golden Boot this season.

The quickest goal of the day, and the first of the season, went to BARROW TOWN’s Zak Ginvert whose first minute strike was equalised 17 minutes later by Mitch Woodbine for visitors ASHBY IVANHOE. Ben Law got the winner for the Riversiders on 70 minutes to get them off to the best possible start.

Lewis Weaver gave newcomers SHERWOOD COLLIERY from the Central Midlands League a good start with a goal just before the break. Shaun Smith added two more early in the second half leaving hosts BORROWASH VICTORIA with a 3-0 opening day defeat.

A topsy-turvy match at Green Lane saw CLIFTON ALL WHITES eventually emerge 4-2 victors over GEDLING MINERS WELFARE. It looked good when Ash Way gave the home side a 27th minute advantage until Bijam Pakrouz levelled in the last minutes of the first half and Jack Jepson put the visitors ahead in the first minute of the second half. Two goals from Daryl Thomas put the All Whites back in charge and Mark Green’s 80th minute goal ensured the points stayed at home.

Two Bradley Scard goals gave GRAHAM STREET PRIMS an opening day victory over BELPER UNITED. His first came five minutes before the break and his second on 62 minutes from the penalty spot. Michael Dunne’s goal in stoppage time was just a consolation for United who are now back ground sharing with Northern Premier League neighbours Belper Town.
Leicestershire Senior League champions INGLES hosted Central Midlands League champions EASTWOOD COMMUNITY at the Dovecote and the game was settled in favour of the home side by Adam Smith’s 78th minute goal. These are two more sides who look confident enough to have a large say in where the title will lie at the end of the season. It all adds up to a great campaign.

KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE got off to a great start when former Holbrook Sports striker Isaac Minott put them ahead on eleven minutes and Jordan Alls increased the advantage twelve minutes later. Jason Gregory pulled one back for newcomers Clipstone five minutes into the second half but Lee Williamson’s third for Kimberley settled the issue seven minutes from the end.

Ben Moore put SELSTON ahead on 15 minutes but hosts RADFORD levelled through Eugene Francis seven minutes later. Moore’s second of the game and one from Sam Weston gave Selston a 3-1 half time advantage. Connor Hardy reduced the arrears on 77 minutes but the League Cup winners couldn’t save a point.

The only red card of the day went to RAINWORTH MINERS WELFARE’s Nick Labatte on 38 minutes. It paved the way for a HEANOR TOWN victory at the Welfare Ground as Dan Chatfield scored in first half stoppage time and a Jacob Lowe own goal on 74 minutes gave the Lions a 2-0 win.
