The excitement of the FA Cup starts early season for our clubs who have just one game behind them

Sadly, only three live to fight on for a second time. Of these, KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE sparkled the brightest with a 6-3 win at Heather St Johns where Isaac Minnot on 9 minutes, Jonathan Jebbison (12), Greg Tobin (22) and Sean Green (24) gave the Brewers the best possible start. Green’s second and one from Jermaine Palmer late in the game saw they progress to the Preliminary Round after the home side had made a spirited come-back.

RAINWORTH MINERS WELFARE join them after coming from behind in their home tie against EMC champions last season Dunkirk. George Harrison had given the Boatmen a 15th minute lead from the penalty spot, but Liam Jepson levelled twelve minutes later. Blessing Adeleye settled the tie in favour of Rainworth midway through the second half.

CLIPSTONE, still looking for their first win in over a season, face a replay after holding Northern Counties East League Barton Town to a 0-0 draw at the Lido Ground.

There were narrow odd goal of three defeats for TEVERSAL, who were somewhat unlucky it would appear to go down at home to Lougborough University. Joe Boachie’s double for the visitors, the first from the penalty spot, were enough to win a spirited encounter with a terrific finish after Matty Wilkinson had scored in the 90th minute and with nine minutes of stoppage time to play.

Second half goals from Lee Tyers on 66 minutes and Tendai Daire in the last minute saw Lutterworth Town, playing their first ever FA Cup game, come from behind to beat visiting HEANOR TOWN, for whom Jamie Sleigh scored on 26 minutes.

Bottesford Town were also involved in an exciting finish against a RADFORD side who put up fine opposition. Lewis Benrose put the NCE League side ahead eight minutes before the break and Jack McMenemy doubled the lead two minutes into the second half. Condell Labban reduced the scores on 90 minutes and the Nottingham side pushed forward for the equaliser, but two minutes into stoppage time Dale Upson broke away to make it 3-1 for Bottesford.

BELPER UNITED’s debut game in the competition also ended in failure with a 6-1 defeat at Quorn. But…..take a look at some familiar names on the score sheet and perhaps the result will not be so surprising. Steve Hart hit a hat-trick and Shay Brennan a brace with Morris adding a sixth. Ryan Baker got United’s consolation.

There were just five games in a curtailed league programme with SELSTON leading the fray with a thumping 6-0 win at BORROWASH VICTORIA. Kenan Layton led the scoring spree in the 19th minute and Klarke Greenham doubled the lead before the break. Greenham got his second of the game with Ben Moore also scoring twice and Carl Moore once for the visitors in the second half.

ASHBY IVANHOE enjoyed a 3-1 home win over improving ARNOLD TOWN for whom Curtis Millward gave them the lead on 38 minutes. Joy lasted just two minutes before Elliott Blott levelled and the same player put Ivanhoe in front on 58 minutes. Kerr Horn made the points save on 69.

INGLES retained their 100% start to the season still without conceding a goal following their 2-0 home win over GRAHAM STREET PRIMS. Second half goals from Laithan Hammond on the hour and Sean Woolley nine minutes from the end did the trick.

Jack Jepson gave GEDLING MINERS WELFARE first blood at EASTWOOD COMMUNITY with a goal on 27 minutes, but Chay Bettridge levelled before the break. Kaylum Mitchell and a Bettridge penalty gave Eastwood the points with second half goals.

CLIFTON ALL WHITES and NEWARK FLOWSERVE shared things at Green Lane. Jordan Thomas put the visitors ahead only for Mark Green to level before the break. Jamie Lloyd gave Flowserve the lead again on 57 minutes but Craig Meakin’s 74th minute equaliser ensured the points were shared
