Visting Clifton were prepared to carry the game to Belper Town and extended the home defence with some exhilarating play this afternoon.

Yeomans shot wide from a free kick as Clifton looked the much sharper of the two sides. Kalisiak met a Muir cross with a tremendous volley but the shot failed to both home goalkeeper Needham.

A promising move by East who in possession in the penalty area scooped his shot over the bar.

During the following week there were rumours flying about that manager Brian Harrison was set to move, of which was firmly denied by the manager himself.

A number of rumours had reached the ears of the officials of the club, but secretary John Raynor said that Brian had been approached about the position and he had assured them there was no thought in his mind about leaving.

“He is all wrapped up in the club and is doing a great job for us “ added Mr Raynor.

Although as yet no actual move has been made, Clifton have expressed a great interest in playing Sunday soccer during the present crisis.
