After a tough couple of weeks with two losses on the bounce, the boys had an opportunity in a Friday night match under the floodlights to find our form again.
We appeared up for it from the outset and we linking up nicely in the midfield with a trio of Jakey, Oli and Adam were demonstrating their quick feet and close control frequently and finding some nice passes between each other to progress the team up the pitch as a unit.
Stan slid a perfectly weighted pass down the line to Adam, who then with a great little heel flick inside beat the defender and fired a perfect pass across the box for a tap in for Leo.
In true classic form of any level of footy we then forgot to then challenge to retain the ball and the Wilford winger flew down the line beat two or three lads and fired home for 1-1.
Feeling low we then more or less did the same again, Wilford linking up nicely penetrating our defence and another nice finish for us to then be 2-1 down.
Alfie in goal made a couple of strong stops to ensure we actually stayed in the game at this point!
This time with us being behind the lads pulled their socks up and with a great bit of tenacity Leo beat two of the defenders and hit a cannon from the left just inside the box and the keeper (Who had made a number of strong stops prior) had no chance.
Almost immediately after Oliver C who had been really getting himself on the ball today broke right and with great finesse and power hit a low hard and sweet strike in to the far side netting.
At this point Lewis and Matthew had continued to share responsibility on the left keeping control nicely and ensuring we kept strong at the back, as did Archie who was again playing in the centre back/sweeper position and Joel and Stan on the right great stuff lads and great distribution.
Josh was put in a bit of a different role today and took a share of the centre midfield responsibilities, doing a fantastic job he had the chance to show off his tricks and quality of passing but he kept working hard defensively throughout.
Kai and Leo were constantly a threat, Kai slipping Leo in again to weave around the defender then around the keeper to score in the now empty net.
Second half every lad did the same but we were much better generally at giving less chances away.
Kai proved his killer striker instinct twice more always being ready to make the correct run at the correct time and beat the defenders to the ball on the end of two great passages of play by all whites.
Leo 3 & MOM
Oliver C 1
Well Done lads!
