Competitions Officer
At the forthcoming AGM on 24th November 2011, Ed Savill, who is moving to Aberdeen, will be standing down from his position as the Nottinghamshire Premier League’s Competitions Officer. Nominations are now invited from a suitable person who would wish to undertake this most interesting role, and in doing so take a place on the League’s Management Committee. The key features of this role are twofold and as follows:
League Representative XI – Off the Field Management
• The League Representative XI plays a maximum of four games per year pending on how successful they are in progressing in the President’s Trophy.
• The draw for the First Round of the Competition is made in January each year.
• Following each winning game, it is then necessary to play the next round three weeks later.
The job holder will:
• Liase with the Team Captain with regards to each fixture, although in this role there will be no requirement for contact with the players.
• Be the direct contact with the Competition’s organisers, i.e. The League Cricket Conference (LCC).
• Liase with the Opposition.
• Arrange Grounds for Home Fixtures and maintain liason with the host club.
• Liase with the Team Captain regarding travel to away fixtures.
• Arrange Umpires for home fixtures
• Arrange a scorer for all fixtures.
• In consultation with the Scorer, ensure that a scoresheet is completed where a match has been won and forwarded to LCC
Whilst the first round can be arranged prior to the start of the season, the busy time for
this role is for a ten week period between the end of June and the end of August, subject of course to the team’s progress in the competition.
Twenty Twenty Competition Organiser
• Initially this role covers arranging the Competition Draw at the AGM in November.
• Seek out and agree venues for the Semi Final matches for the pre-agreed date.
• Prior to the Semi Finals, appoint a League Official to each of the three venues.
• One month prior to the semi final day, liaise with the host clubs regarding issues for the day, e.g. catering.
• In conjunction with the League’s Press Officer, arrange maximum publicity for the Competition.
• Liase with the Secretaries of the two Feeder League regarding their competitions and ensure that their Play Off Final date fits with the Trent Bridge Finals Day
• Form and chair a four person Sub Committee to manage all aspects of the Trent Bridge Finals Day
• Direct liaison with Trent Bridge Officials, thereby ensuring that the Finals Day is successful both from a League and County Club perspective.
• Liase with the Finals Day Competing Clubs.
• Supported by the League Chairman, manage the Finals Day itself.
• Arrange Winners Presentation and Trophies.
• Following the conclusion of the Finals Day, conduct, with Trent Bridge, a review of the Finals Day
• Advise the Nottinghamshire Competition Winners of the details of the East Midland Final of the ECB National 20 20 Competition.
The jobholder must have good organisational ability and be able to communicate effectively with all the various parties. He or she will receive strong support from the League’s Management Committee and will sit on that committee as an elected officer of the League.
