First Class Cricketers that have represented CVCC

George Wootton (1834 - 1924).  Clifton's earliest recorded first class cricketer.  He worked for the Clifton family and played for the club when not playing first class.  He represented Notts from 1861 - 1871, and also the MCC, taking 983 wickets John Butler (1863-1945).  Clifton's first recorded centurian 138 v Notts Castle 1893.  His first class career lasted one season 1889, with a top score of 56 from 6 matches.  One of only a couple of Notts Cricketers that Trent Bridge have no photo of. John Moss (1864-1950).  Member of a family of cricketers that played on the original club ground. Played one first class game for Notts in 1892, where he managed to get 1 in both innings!  He became more famous standing as an Umpire in 11 Test Matches Harold Butler (1913-1991).  Pictured here on Cliftons original ground, Harold was the first of 3 test match cricketers to play for CVCC.  He played 2 test matches taking 15 wickets, and took 952 first class wickets overall
Bobby Chapman (1972- ).  The last true Clifton clubman to play first class cricket. His best Premier League figures were 7-50 v WI Cavs in 2000. His first class career for Notts and Worcs spanned 7 seasons, taking 71 wkts at 38.05 Lyndsay Walker (1974- ).  Australian born wicket-keeper who played 12 first class matches for Notts famously getting a pair v New Zealand - stumped in both inns.  Played for CVCC 1993-96 scoring 839 runs @ 26.22 Andrew Jackman (1963- ).  Andy, more famously known for his years with WI Cavaliers, sneaks onto this list having played 7 evening league games for CVCC in 1996 averaging 70.50.  His first class career spanned 42 matches for Guyana, scoring 5 centuries Dave Lucas (1978- ). Currently with Northants, previously with Notts and Yorks, Dave has taken 207 first class wkts to date at 31.95.  Played for CVCC when available 1996-2008, he was CVCC club captain in 2004, and has a best of 7-25 v Caythorpe in 2008
Kyle Mills (1979- ).  The second international star to play for CVCC.  The Kiwi test star played for CVCC in 2001 taking 27 wkts at 17.74 and scoring 407 runs @ 31.31 before being called away in July to begin his international career Chris Hewison (1979- ). Chris played for CVCC in 2001 scoring a woeful 309 runs at 25.75.  His first class career for Notts was even less successful managing only 1 match, and a top score of 24 Richard Bates (1972- ).  Rich was CVCC captain in 2002, winning Premier League allrounder award after 584 runs @ 41.71 and 42 wkts at 15.55.  His first class career at Notts spanned 1993-99 taking 50 wkts at 50.40 Graeme Archer (1970- ). A popular pro, Graeme played in 2002 & 2003, scoring 1918 runs @ 68.54 and 38 wkts @ 15.68.  His first class career at Notts spanned 100 matches over 1992-1999 scoring 10 centuries in 5354 runs @32.44
Mathew Dowman (1974- ).  Mat was CVCC captain in 2003, scoring 808 runs @ 42.53, and taking 33 wkts @ 18, missing out on the allrounders award by only 2 wickets.  His first class career for Derbys & Notts produced 4648 runs @ 27.83 with nine 100's Jenny Gunn (1986- ).  Sneaks onto the list as the third test match cricketer to play for CVCC (even though it doesn't rank as first class)!!  Jenny has played 3 times for CVCC with a high score of 29*.  She has played 8 test matches for England. Paul Pollard (1968- ).  Paul played for CVCC 2006-2009, scoring 1814 runs @ 51.83.  His first class career for Notts and Worcs spanned 1987 - 2001 scoring 9685 runs @ 31.44 with 15 centuries. Alex Hales (1989- ).  Played for CVCC in 2008-2009 scoring 821 runs @ 35.70.  His first class career at Notts shows 1124 runs @ 37.46 with a high score of 136
Luke Fletcher (1988- ).  A Papplewick lad, Luke played for CVCC in 2009 and 2010, with 40 wickets @ 12.50.  His first class career to date includes 42 victims @ 34.11 Dan Birch (1981- ).  Our most recent signing Dan smashed 1068 runs @ 56.21 in the Premier League last year.  His first class career during 2007-2008 included 16 matches scoring 888 runs at 34.15 with a top score of 130.
