Former Blue, Alex Brees praised Clitheroe players Bonaminio and Brady to fire his old side to glory

Former Clitheroe winger, Alex Brees believes that two of the Blues key players Danny Brady and Roberto Bonaminio can lead the side to a good league position this year. Brees has plied his trade at Shawbridge in the past and appreciates the work that the likes of the Garner family and Anne Barker do for the club.

He spoke about his former team mate and youth rivals and said that Brady and Bonaminio add real class and steel to the Blues side;

“Danny Brady was always a big character when I was at Clitheroe and I think this year that has shone through. His leadership skills were clear to be seen by all involved at Clitheroe, over previous years and this year he has really been someone for the younger lads to look up to.”

“Roberto Bonaminio was one from my youth team days at Lammack juniors. His technical ability was second to none and it is great to see he has made the step up to the Evo-Stik. I am sure Roberto has a long and prosperous career ahead of him and will bring finesse and quality passing ability with him wherever he goes.”

Having played at the club between 2009 and 2011 Brees prospered at the club and made many friends in the process. The local lad from Blackburn described the town and club of Clitheroe as fantastic and admits it will be hard to forget the time he had at Shawbridge;

“With regards to my time at the club, they were some of the best times in my footballing career and I would love one day to return to Shawbridge should the timing be right. I owe a lot to Pete smith, Kenny Mather and Carl garner who really gave me the opportunity to play and express myself.“

“Football needs more of these guys like Carl and Simon Garner who give youth an opportunity and I believe Simon is now doing this and reaping the benefits. Clitheroe is a fantastic town and club and I am proud to have been part of such a well-run organisation. The fans are great too.”
