Preview of this Saturday's game against Mossley

By James Burch

A last gasp equaliser from forward Sefton Gonzales secured Clitheroe an important point on Saturday against Darlington 1883 and will send them into Saturday’s game at home to Mossley, full of confidence. Typically in the past fixtures against Mossley have been close affairs and with the Blues opponents sitting only three points above them in ninth position it is all up for grabs.

Clitheroe gave debuts to new signings Laquan Esdaille and Carl Mercer during their weekends 1-1 draw against the Quakers and both players impressed, with both men gaining plaudits for their never say die attitudes as they put their body on the line for the team. In the league, the Blues have not had the best of November’s having picked up four points out of a possible twelve, however a win against rivals Mossley would represent improvement and give Simon Garner’s men something to build on going into the busy Christmas period.

Mossley will make the forty mile journey up to Shawbridge, off the back of a victory against Prescot Cables that ended a run of three straight defeats for the Lily Whites. Managed by Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison, the Tameside club finished 15th in the league last season and currently look on course to finish higher than they did last campaign. Last season Clitheroe got the better of their opposition, beating Mossley 3-1 at Shawbridge and drawing 1-1 away at Seel Park.
