Clitheroe's new roving media recruit Phillip Ghayour reviews his first month at the club

Clitheroe's new media help is going down a storm
AUTHOR: Phillip Ghayour and James Burch

Hello all, I’m Phil, the new website, social media and general press recruit at Clitheroe FC. I’m just here to tell you about myself and my first four weeks at Shawbridge.

I’ll begin with a small profile, I’m in my very early twenties, 5ft 7in, dark curly hair, studying my second year of journalism at the University of Salford, a player for said university’s football team, part Spanish and Clitheroe Football Club’s latest recruit.

Now my dating profile is out of the way, we can move onto Clitheroe FC. I’ve been to a few matches now, getting to know those who run the club, meeting the players and getting to know the manager.

Everybody is happy to get involved with the club’s media, which makes my job an immeasurable amount easier, but is also testament to how much this club values its supporters.

It was the Darlington away day, a cold November 22nd in the shadow of a Sainsbury’s. The Heritage Park ground is where I first tried my hand at live coverage via Twitter and Facebook along with post match video interview with David Lynch and Simon Garner.

A subsequent match report followed and my first day as a roving football reporter was over. That day I really got a feel for what I was doing with the Blues, it did take sometime learning how to spell certain player’s names and remembering numbers, but I eventually got the hang of it.

James Burch is the main contributor to the website and we’re working closely to up the content, aiming to get as many items out a day as we can. I’m going to be more present on match days with above mentioned live updates and match reports.

Whilst James writes up the game previews and general Clitheroe FC updates. I’m hoping to get more post match stuff items such as video interviews and fans reaction onto our social media and website. We are both very passionate and connecting the Clitheroe fans with their club, something which is sadly sparse in non-league football.

It’s been around six weeks since I applied for the role, since then I’ve become engulfed with affection for this football club, from the manager to the finance director, everyone has been incredibly welcoming. In the coming weeks you’ll be seeing my name much more on the website and my face at matches, so I hope you enjoy, I know I will.

Thanks very for reading and up the Blues!

If you’d like to contact me about anything from website content or providing a car seat to away games (I am student after all and trains are expensive) I’m available 24 hours a day via p.f.ghayour@gmail.com
