The Blues are set to play their first game in three weeks on Saturday as they travel to Merseyside to play lowly Prescot Cables at Valerie Park.

With recent postponements in the league due to Warrington Town's FA Cup heroics and the weather last Saturday against Farsley AFC, it will be a chance for Simon Garner and his men to make up for lost time and start re-climbing the table. After a disappointing November, that saw just one win in eight matches.

On the road, Clitheroe have failed to pick up three points in three attempts. With their last victory away from Shawbridge coming on the 25th October when a brace from Sefton Gonzales saw the team beat Brighouse Town 4-2.

Clitheroe currently sit 15th in the table on twenty three points with a number of games in hand over the majority of the teams in the league. In recent weeks the focus has been on cup action, after the Blues defeated Bamber Bridge away in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy quarter finals.

Since then the side have been drawn against Atherton Collieries in the semi-finals and find themselves only ninety minutes away from a final at Bolton Wanderers Macron Stadium.

Focus has now switched back to the league and against a side that has lost four of their last five matches, Saturdays match should represent the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways for Garner's team.

Saturday's hosts managed by Neil Prince have not had the best of seasons so far this year, languishing in 20th place in the table having won just three all campaign. The team mauled fellow struggler's Padiham 5-1 two weeks ago and will be looking to get back to back wins for the first time this year.

The two sides are yet to play each other this season but it was definitely advantage Clitheroe when the sides met home and away last campaign.

On the 2nd November 2013, the Tigers travelled to Shawbridge and were defeated 3-1 as a double from Lloyd Dean and one from Andrew Griffiths gave the Blues three points. Twenty eight days later that month, Clitheroe travelled to Merseyside and gained a hard fought 2-2 draw, after Dean once again scored a brace.

A bug has hit the Clitheroe camp but manager Simon Garner hopes all those affected with the illness will recover by Saturday. Steven Mercer, Danny Wilkins and Garner himself will all sit out another game due to suspension, however there are no injury concerns going into the match. Infact the biggest hindrance to the side may be the ‘beautiful’ North-West weather conditions.
