The First Team won a 9 goal thriller on Saturday against Hay St Marys. Peter Rees grabbed 4 goals and new signing Richie Evans scored on his debut to gives us a brilliant 3 points on the road.
We made the worst possible start to the game by conceding within 2 minutes after a shot trickled into the goal from long range. After that early set back we grew into the game and dominated the next 15 minutes scoring three times. Richie Evans and Peter Rees combined to score the first with Rees firing in from close range. Ioan Humphreys flicked the ball on for Rees to run through and get his second of the game before Andrew Evans set up Rees to score a 17 minute hat trick with his powerful shot beating the keeper. Ioan Humphreys had a shot cleared off the line after rounding the keeper as we threatened the home teams defence further. Hay grabbed a goal back just before half time when the ball beat Brown. We went in at half time 3-2 up.
Hay came out in the second half and had more of the ball in the opening 20 minutes but never tested keeper Chris Brown in goal. Peter Rees was denied a stone wall penalty after a Hay defender bundled him over inside the box and a Richie Evans lob just went over the bar with the keeper stranded as we looked to finish off the game. Our opponents stayed in the game though and scored two goals in 2 minutes to see them lead 4-3 with 20 minutes remaining. Manager Chris Davies brought on Ashley Owen and Toby Evans for defenders Drew Reynolds and Adam Williams as we went all out to get back into the game. We pressed on in the final twenty minutes with both subs making a difference. Toby Evans had a shot cleared off the line and Peter Rees then had a goal ruled out for offside. With 4 minutes remaining Toby Evans slipped in Richie Evans to score on his debut and draw us level before Evans played in Peter Rees to lob the keeper and win us the game 5-4.
