A very tight first half saw both sides fail to create many clear cut chances. Peter Rees had an effort tipped around the post from 20 yards whilst our opponents failed to test keeper Kris Williams in goal. Just before the break we had the ball in the back of the net, Ben Jones headed home from a Richie Evans corner only for the ref to disallow the goal.
We made the perfect start to the second half and went ahead inside 2 minutes. A long ball from keeper Kris Williams released Peter Rees to race through and lob the advancing keeper from 18 yards. Berriew levelled 10 minutes later when Kris Williams spilled a cross into the path of their midfielder who tapped home from close range. Harry Holt had the ball in the net minutes later, only to see his goal ruled out for a debatable off side. We dominated the remainder of the game but failed to put any of our chances away. Ger Jones had an effort saved after being put through with Harry Holt then missing the follow up shot. Richie Evans had a goal bound shot blocked as we pushed on. Berriew had a header hit the top of the bar in their only chance. With time running out we created the final chance of the game. Substitute Andrew Evans released Richie Evans to square for Peter Rees, his shot hit the underside of the bar before being cleared away to safety. The game finished all square in a frustrating afternoon for the greens.
