A depleted First Team picked up all three points against Aberaeron on Saturday at Ty Brith. Manager Chris Davies was without 8 players for the game. Ben Richards, Colin Reynolds, Ash Owen, Gregg Brown (injured), Luke and Harry Holt (unavailable) and Ioan Humphreys and Peter Rees (suspended).
Aberaeron started brightly with Kris Williams forced into making an early one on one save to deny their striker. We didn't create an awful lot of chances in a poor first half performance. Richie Evans and Jordan Jones both had penalty appeals waved away after being pushed over in the box from crosses. The half ended all square though.
The beginning of the second half followed the pattern of the first with both sides cancelling each other out. The breakthrough came on the hour mark. Substitute Adam Nottingham played the ball across the box at the second attempt for Richie Evans to beat the keeper with a scuffed shot that found its way in. Aberaeron equalised from a corner 15 minutes later, a poor clearance fell to their player who fired the ball into the net from 12 yards out. Both sides had chances to take the lead in the final minutes of the game, a mazy run and shot by Richie Evans forced their keeper into a smart save whilst Aberaeron forced Kris Williams into making a good stop at his near post as the game entered added on time. The winner came two minutes into injury time, Ger Jones played a ball into the box which saw Jordan Jones challenge both the keeper and the Aberaeron centre half, the ball bounced out to midfielder Danny Pierce to calmly volley the ball into the top corner and give us a crucial three points.
