Unbeaten run comes to an end at Mach.

Mach give a 100% in a gutsy and tough display, scoring a last minute try to end Dinbych's 100% League record.

Dinbych lost their long unbeaten record  in a match in which the lead changed hand on no fewer than six occasions when a spirited and highly committed Machynlleth side scored a try in the last minute of the game and the successful conversion  gave the home side the narrowest of victories. Dinbych had more than enough possession from the set piece lines out and a dominant scrummage but lost out in and around the breakdown area  where they conceded too many penalties and where their failure to clear out the opposition allowed Machynlleth to turn them over on too many occasions. They also failed to penetrate a determined Machynlleth defence whilst they missed too many first time tackles themselves to allow the home side to capitalise on their more limited opportunities.
Dinbych had an early wake up call after only four minutes when Machynlleth took the lead when hooker Hedd Grifiths forced his way over for an unconverted try from a five metre lineout. Dinbych reacted well  dominating play with a number of attacks deep into the Machynlleth 22 and eventually reduced the deficit in the tenth minute  with a short range penalty by outside half Tom Seddon following an impressive driving maul from a lineout. Dinbych took the lead for the first time four minutes later when Tom Seddon sliced through the defence from a scrum under the posts for a try which he converted himself. Dinbych continued to have the better of both possession and territory for the remainder of the half but  failed to build on their lead due to their lack of penetration and the numerous penalties  which they conceded at and around the breakdown. In the final minutes of the half they  suffered the consequences of their indiscretions when wing Rob Schrimshaw was yellow carded for the culmination of team penalties which also allowed Machynlleth outside half Iwan Jones to kick an easy penalty from in front of the posts.
Although they trailed by ten points to eight at the interval Machynlleth  regained the lead in the first minutes of the second half with a well worked try  by full back Steffan Price following a blind side  break from half way to edge the home side thirteen points to ten ahead. Dinbych reacted immediately when lock David Haydock gathered a loose kick on half way to set up scrum half Jamie Winning on an incisive run before offloading to skipper Dan Jones who went over for a try. The conversion by Tom Seddon increased Dinbych’s lead to seventeen points to thirteen. Machynlleth then regained the lead when a breakaway from halfway ended with centre Ryan Blockley going over for an unconverted try.
Ten minutes from time Dinbych went ahead for the last time when replacement wing Andy McCord went over for a try following a blind side break from a scrum on the Machnlleth 22 which Tom Seddon converted to leave Dinbych ahead at twenty  four points to eighteen. Machynlleth  then had their only period of sustained pressure in the final ten minutes when only tremendous defence by Dinbych kept them out. The decisive score in the last minute of the game originated from yet another penalty conceded by Dinbych with Machynlleth able to create an overlap for replacement wing Jonathan Davies to cross wide out for a try. Outside half Iwan Jones kicked the vital conversion to  give Machynlleth the lead for the final time with Dinbych unable to reply as the final whistle blew after the restart kick.

Next Saturday Dinbych host Harlech in the third round of the SWALEC Bowl the match kicking off at 2.00 p.m. at Caeau Les Phillips.
