Dragons fail to break down Flint
Clwb Rygbi Dinbych's 2nds unbeaten home run came to an end at the hands of Flint RFC.
A youthful Dinbych Seconds side competed well in most aspects of this open but scrappy match but Flint's more experienced and bulkier forwards always had the upper hand in the scrums which they used as a springboard to set up most of the five tries in this bonus point win.
Dinbych played with the slope in their favour in the first half but failed to use it sufficiently to pressurise the visitors. Flint made better use of their possession and took the lead with an unconverted try. Dinbych's only reply was a penalty by skipper Tom Evans leaving the visitors five points to three ahead at the interval.
Flint used the slope and their dominant scrum to pressurise Dinbych throughout the second half and despite desperate defending by the hosts gradually eased ahead with two tries. A tiring Dinbych side then conceded two late tries which gave the visitors a flattering final winning margin. Back row forwards Richard and Arwyn Williams typified Dinbych's forward battle against a physically bigger opposition whilst outside half Iwan Johnson back after his first team debut last week gave an assured performance and showing promise for the future.
