It is time once again to get prepared for the new season for Clydebank Rugby Club and a few important dates to mark in your calendar for this year

Tuesday 26th June 7pm: PLAYERS MEETING.

All players are required to attend to discuss plans for the year. We will cover all aspects of playing including our expectations and preparation, including what to wear at matches, ensuring under 18 players are registered for senior rugby and IRB Rugby Ready, training plans, after game subs, and anything else you feel will improve the club on the e playing side. We need all contact information including mobile numbers to notify players via Teamer of game information and training. This can only be successful if all players turn up and have their input so it is imperative you attend.

Thursday 28th June 7pm: Pre-season training.

The hard work begins!!! Again all players are expected to attend to get fit for the season led by club coach Michael Starkey. Be ready and on the pitch for 7pm, prepared to work as hard as you can too be as fit as possible for when the season starts. Training will be every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday right up to the start of the season.

Saturday 4th August: Annual Clydebank 10's Tournament.

With need everyone’s help and co-operation to ensure the tournament runs smoothly and successfully. We will hopefully be putting in enough teams so all players can play. We will be having a barbecue and Tug O War between participating teams and a feast of rugby on show. The bar will be open so come down and enjoy the day.

Saturday 11th August: RBS Rugby Force Day

Rugby Force allows the opportunity for club members and volunteers to participate in a "make over" for the club facilities. Last year’s was a great success despite some awful weather. We plan to start early in the day to allow training in the afternoon but more details will be announced so make yourself available to help make the club a nicer place for everyone to enjoy.

This year sees Don Colford step down from the as President. Don has worked tirelessly for years for the good of Clydebank Rugby Club and would like to thank him on behalf of everyone for everything he has done for the club. Euan McQuarrie is the new President and would like to wish him the very best of luck in the role. Ross McCombe continues as Club Chairman and defies the years to keep on playing at the very highest level. I would like to thank Jamie Baxter for leading the Club as Captain for the past year. He led by example on the park and helped the 1st team on a very successful start to the year before a bad injury forced him to miss most of the season. Euan Cuthbert is Club Vice-Captain and the new responsibility is only natural as he has shown great leadership and playing ability in the pack and is highly regarded by everyone. Daniel Donnelly continues as 2nd Team Manger/Mogul and done a great job last year organising players and the team alongside Ronnie McKee.

David Bell is taking a more active role in the social side this year alongside Margaret Henry and Shirley Smith who have been doing a great job for the last couple of years. If you have any ideas on what you think would be a good idea for a night at the club then speak to them.

The Clydebank Titans continues to strive, encouraging kids of all ages to play rugby at Clydebank. More young players than ever now train and play at Whitecrook and it’s a credit to the hard work and dedication of the all the coaches involved. Show your support and attend as many matches and training sessions as possible to help not only the coaches but to help the kids to be better players.

For the very first time we now also have a ladies section, The Clydebank Diamonds. Initial interest has been great with up to 35 in attendance to work initially on rugby based fitness sessions with a view of hopefully establishing a team. Training is at 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Clydebank Community Sports Hub is yet more exciting news for the club. We are involved with various other sports clubs to establish Whitecrook as a centre for sport in the area. It is an ongoing process but more positive news will hopefully be announced throughout the year.

Clydebank Rugby Club is in great health at the moment. The senior playing side have a great mix of youth and experience. The 1st XV have another strong league to play in this year with a total of 22 games, playing throughout Christmas and the New Year so I would ask all players to do their upmost to attend training and make you available for playing every week. A strong squad is vital with the 2nd XV playing not only for enjoyment, but to push for places within the 1sts and improve competition in all positions and ultimately raise the level of performance for all players. With increased playing numbers we are hopeful of continuing with veteran Parrots, and maybe having a 3rd XV playing on a regular basis. Throughout the Titans age groups are a some promising young players who will provide the club with great players for years to come.

Contact details are below if you need any more information regarding the upcoming season. Facebook is also available if you need to know anything that is happening but the best place is to get to Whitecrook on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays to help take the club forward. We have a great group of motivated people so let’s work together to make this year the most successful for Clydebank Rugby Club both on, and off the field.
