On March 4th Coalville Ladies travelled to their away fixture at Old Newtonians RFC. This was a long awaited game as due to cancellations from oppositions the team hadn’t played for weeks. From kick off it was clear that old newts had set out to disrupt Coalville’s game plan and during the first half the game was well fought by both teams. As weather conditions were difficult there were plenty of scrums to warm the pack up. Coalville dominated nearly every scrum winning all of their own and the majority of newts balls. Towards the end of the first half an unlucky kick was charged down by newts on Coalville's try line which resulted in a try for newts which was converted. Coalville then picked up the pace during the second half with set moves and crash balls by the forwards which gave a great platform for the backs. Coalville's increasing fitness levels were evident throughout the game. With excellent support running and communication Coalville hit back with 5 tries during the second half, two of which were converted by Jenny Renton (Captain). Try scorers Jenny Renton (2), Helen 'Bambi' Thornley, Tasha Taylor and Becky 'Brains' Chamberlain.
Final score 29-7 to Coalville.
