Defender Jamie McAteer leaves The Ravens as Luke Foster joins

Central defender Jamie McAteer has left Coalville Town due to increased work commitments which means he can't dedicate the time required to football at this level. He joined The Ravens from local rivals Barwell in the summer of 2013 and won the player of the year award in his first season at the club.

He was instrumental in helping the club achieve promotion last season although he missed the closing stages and play offs with a knee injury. He made his comeback earlier in the season and was getting back to his best form with the highlight being the late winner against Mickleover in early November.

Joining the club as a replacement is Luke Foster who has arrived from league rivals Ilkeston. Luke is a vastly experienced central defender with over 300 appearances in the football league, with over 100 of those coming in his spell at Oxford United. he has also represented Rotherham United, Mansfield Town and Preston North End.

Manager Tommy Brookbanks said of the latest transfer activity "Jamie McAteer has today left the club after long and fantastic service to Coalville Town.

Jamie has recently started a new job which needs to be his priority and he has found it difficult to combine the extra travel and training needed in this league. We all wish Macca all the best for the future and thank him for everything he has done for us.

On a positive note we are delighted to Announce the signing of Luke Foster from Ilkeston FC. Luke is a towering centre half who brings massive football league experience to us. While trying to replace Jamie Mcateer we thought it was essential to bring in someone of quality and experience to help the team but just as importantly to help the progress of our rising star Dean Freeman. As we all know Dean was Young Player Of The Year in the Evostik D1S just a few months ago and has the potential to get back into the football league so we're sure Luke will be a positive influence on him.

Thanks go to chairman Glyn Rennnocks and Vice chairman Mick Jordan for getting this deal over the line. Welcome on board Luke"

Everyone at Coalville Town wishes to place on record their thanks to Macca and wish him well for the future and we extend a warm welcome to Luke.
