Coalville End Season With A Win
Goals from Watson and Woolley win it for The Ravens
Coalville rounded off their league programme with a 2-1 victory over Rainworth Miners Welfare at Owen St.
Tommy Brookbanks named the same starting eleven as last week at Sheffield with Jared Holmes serving the final game of his suspension and Brad Munn, Sam Wood, Lee Attenborough, Benn Minshull and Ben Wallace all on the injury list.
The Ravens had most of the play in the first half with Luke Smithson going close in the 6th minute. His sht was saved by David Reay in the visitors goal.
Next to try his luck was Tom Byrne but he hit his shot well wide from the edge of the penalty area. Jamie McAteer picked up the only booking of the game for a challenge which seemed a little harsh.
Coalville took the lead in the 28th minute as Watson burst into the box and hit a fierce right foot shot across Reay and into the far corner for his 22nd of the season.
Rainworth's best chance of the half fell to Osborne but his effort was stopped by a superb tackle from Josh Raven. With seconds left in the first half Alex Dean played the ball across the box for Woolley but his shot hot the side netting.
Coalville made a change at the interval with Andy Handley coming on at the back in place of McAteer. The Ravens continued to push forward and they thought they had doubled their lead. Ellis Storey surged forward from his own half and hit a thunderous shot that came back off the bar and Smithson turned the ball home only for the linesman's flag rule it out for offside.
Woolley again came close but his shot from a tight angle hit the base of the post and bounced clear. However he soon made amends as he pounced on a poor clearance from Reay and slotted the ball home for his 25th goal of the season which see's him finish joint top of the Evo Stik League goal scoring charts.
Smithson was next to try his luck with a fierce long range effort which rose just over the cross bar. With two minutes left on the clock Rainworth got a consolation through Kuwesi Ofushine.
