Buxton Edge Past Ten Man Coalville
A second half penalty was just enough for play off chasing Buxton to secure all three points at the Silverlands on Saturday afternoon
Last weeks goal scorer Rory Coleman came into the starting eleven instead of Jack McMillan. Dan Creaney was still out with a hamstring injury whilst Nat Watson is serving his suspension after being red carded against Workington.
Coalville started the brighter with Lavelle-Moore and Coleman testing Budtz in the Buxton goal early on. Dean Freeman then flashed an effort past the near post as he met Colemans in swinging corner.
The game then sparked into life as Liam Hardy flicked a header on for Joe McGee to run onto and finish confidently past Coton who was helpless in the Coalville goal.
Hardy was then in the other main talking point of the half as he was unhappy with Danny Jenno shielding the ball out of play before looking to have pushed/punched Jenno in the aftermath. The referee was yards away and quick on the scene on for him to give Hardy a talking to a nothing else.
HT: Buxton 1-0 Coalville.
Two minutes into the second half Coalville hit back as the initial corner was cleared the ball hung in the air for Dean Freeman to hit a sweet left footed volley into the far corner.
Malachi Lavelle-Moore then had a header flash over whilst Bembe-Leta hacked the ball away from under the Buxton crossbar.
Coalville then should have had a penalty of their own as Massiah McDonald powered into the box only for the ball to flick up and bounce of the arm of Alistair Taylor with the referee somehow waving away the Coalville protests.
The sucker punch came then with twenty minutes remaining as the lively Brad Grayson got inbehind the defence and Danny Jenno could only bundle him over in the box, no arguments with the decision and Jenno was given his marching orders. Grayson dusted himself down to convert from the spot and put the hosts ahead.
This then killed the game as a contest and although Coalville gave it a go Buxton defended well against the ten men and gained maximum points on the day.
FT: Buxton 2-1 Coalville.
