Ladies draw with league leaders
Coalville Town Ladies 1 Asfordby Amateurs 1
Coalville town played Asfordby for their final home league game and it was third v first, both teams came out strong wanting the win.
Playing end to end football with both keepers denying goals and challenges going in hard Asfordby won a free kick that was swung in and only half cleared for them to slot home an early goal after 15 minutes.
Coalville pressed hard putting Asfordby under pressure with some great play. Aleksandra Wawrzycka was put in down the wing and created a great cross towards Emma Smith who was steam rolled over in the box.
Referee gave a penalty to Coalville and Smith stepped up placing the ball into the right hand corner giving Coalville the equaliser.
While both teams pressed hard for a second goal Lucy Cartwright stayed strong in goals with the help of her back 4 of Ashleigh Simons, Clair Dolman , Leanne Shipton and Rachel Coote.
In the Second half both teams came out ready for battle with Coalville’s midfield and defence keeping it tight.
There were chances both ends and Asfordby were through on goal, Siouxsie Hopkins saving the first shot followed by the rebound causing a scramble of players in the box with Hopkins then diving on the ball and into her safe hands.
It could’ve gone either way a great game of football ending in a 1-1 draw. Natalie Jackson was awarded player of the match.
