Young Hammers succeed at Selhurst Arena

Cobham Development Squad got off to a great start today in the Michail Antonio Cup. A flying start saw the young Hammers take a 4-0 lead in just 20 minutes achieved by a high press - high temp approach.

First goal came after 5 minutes from Joe Saunders who confidently placed the ball into the Dragons goal from just outside the penalty area. Soon after Francis linked up to allow Max Cornish to finish with a left and right footed shots across the goal keeper making the score 3-0. The fourth goal came from a corner, and a powerful header by Joe Clarke.

The second half was a different story as London Dragons fought to get back in the game and the physicality of the game took on another level. Nonetheless, Cobham kept their heads and although conceding two goals, Joe Clarke got his second on the break with a cute back heel in front of goal.

Next game is at home this Wednesday evening against Walton & Hersham U23’s.
