Clubs working together. Cockermouth RUFC & Keswick RUFC

Unfortunately as Cockermouth U11s went into the 201819 season player numbers hadn't increased despite the work of the club to try and introduce new players. As we all know, the older the age group the more players we need. This is for both the enjoyment and quality of training and to fulfil meaningful fixtures and abide by the rules set by age grade rugby.

After the great success of Cockermouth Titans coaches Dean Burgess & Richard and Kerri Black recruiting players from Keswick to play rugby league in the summer, Dean & Richard decided it was a good opportunity to approach Cockermouth Wasps coaches Mike Foy and Jason Bone to continue this relationship in the union season. Keswick RUFC coach Tim Green was on board straight away and with the backing of both club committees the team has now formed and are looking really strong for the season.

Today was the first training session at Keswick RUFC, venue to alter each week and a fantastic session was delivered with four coaches in attendance allowing the players to cover a lot in just one session.

We look forward to watching this team develop and the partnership between the two clubs is fantastic to see to ensure these boys keep their rugby learning journey going.
