Saturday sees our first team face newly formed Acton Fc at Penygelli playing fields in the first round of the Welsh cup.

Acton formed this season and they are under the supervision of former Cymru alliance and Gresford player Joe Garner, who will adopt a player/manager role within the club with the help of Coedpoeth resident Richard winnie Jones as assistant manager.

Acton play in the Clwyd East Premier division with this being their first competitive season and prove an unknown quantity so early in the season.

Former Coedpoeth players could well make an appearance for Acton, that being defender Dan Rutter, and more notably influential midfielder James Williams who left coedy last season for Brickfield Rangers who now adds Acton Fc to the list of his playing career.

Coedpoeth are without suspended captain Tom Redman which will be the second of a three match ban. The excellent Mike Taylor misses out still nursing a groin strain. Aaron Camplin is out due to work commitments and man mountain Sion Turner is away on a tactical gameplay course.

Coedy looking to make it two in a row and should be confident of progressing into the second round after a convincing win against Overton and some really good preseason displays, but maybe Acton could prove to be this seasons underdogs and the giantkillers of the Welsh cup.

The kiosk will be open as usual for refreshments and the Golden Lion, Tabor hill, Coedpoeth will be providing post match food and hospitality.
