The root of almost all problems in any organisation is communication. Whether its a lack of, too much or more often mis-communication. How do we improve how we communicate? 1. Ensuring Good Communication can be the responsibility of a volunteer or it can be something required from everyone. 2. The club has 300+ participants, all compartmentalised into smaller teams, so discussion needs to cover both club level and team level communication 3. Can we make a list that captures most of what we need to communicate? 4. What are the best ways to communicate and also gain benefits from? 5. Is the use of the website the key here? Think about if everyone used the website, what would be gain, what's stopping us? 6. Finally, is there benefit in 'controlling' communication. Not stopping it but checking it for things like club logos etc.? Points to consider: a. We have a need for team, sections (mini/junior/senior), and club level communication. b. The website has a who load of built in features and tools c. Child welfare guidelines need to be considered, all communications must be 'appropriate' for children. Using the website is one of the many ways we should be communicating. It is good and has benefits. Most of us will also be using texts/phone calls for our players and their parents but we should encourage them to login. I think for any volunteers involved the website should be a key part of comms but of course all volunteers will need have to have the access to be consistent. It should contain things like meeting dates & times, agenda items, action point updates so that people are prepared when they attend meetings and the discussions can be focused and timely. |

The website has to be the central part of how we communicate as a club. I think we lack some 'club' feeling, instead being a collection of teams with little linking us at times. Having all our news and views available to members and supporters will at least help us to pull together. I think we need a clearer focus on where we want to get to and to help us all to feel a part of it. This is the easiest tool to help build that club spirit. |
