Monday 23rd April 2018

Lutterworth Town kept up their hopes of winning promotion with a convincing 4-1 win at Burton Park Wanderers. Rhys Roberts put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes and Lee Tyers netted a second six minutes later. Buckingham Town are having to play their final home games on their opponents ground and Olney Town hosted them a few days after playing their own ‘final’ home game. Gabriel Judickas (14) and Daniel Simpson were on the score-sheet for the Robins, but Olney netted three times with Osar Friel (66) and sub Drew Mitten (76) amongst their scorers in a 3-2 ‘away’ win.
Bugbrooke St Michaels and Rushden & Higham United drew 1-1 at Birds Close with the home side equalising after Dylan Wilson’s 19th minute goal had given the visitors a half-time lead.

PREMIER DIVISION

Deeping Rangers cruised to a 4-0 win at Peterborough Northern Star. Henry Dunn’s glancing header opened the scoring on 15 minutes and two goals in the last minute of the first half made it three. Scott Coupland’s shot took a deflection on the way in and seconds later Jonny Clay had added his name to the score-sheet. Scott Mooney rounded the evening off with a point-blank header five minutes from the end of the game to keep Deeping in fifth spot.
Whitworth lifted themselves back out of the relegation zone with a deserved 3-1 win over Wellingborough Town in the most local of local derbies. Cavell Jarvis opened the scoring on 3 minutes and grabbed a second after 75. Deven Ellwood did reduce the arrears but Remy Brittain was quick to make it 3-1 on 77 to secure three much needed points and the local bragging rights for the town.
Eynesbury Rovers beat ON Chenecks in a close game, the home side triumphing 3-2. James Tricks gave Rovers the lead on 39, but Sam Watkins levelled two minutes before the interval. An own goal put the home side back in front three minutes into the second half and Luis Vieira added a third on 58. Chenecks pulled it back to 3-2 with 90 minutes on the clock through Brandon Williams but it was too late to salvage a point.
Harborough Town beat Boston Town at Bowdens Park with all the goals coming in a twenty minute period in the second half. Luke Shaw put The Bees ahead on 57 minutes, but that lasted just three minutes with Peter Evison finding the net for The Poachers. Greg Usher popped up with the decisive goal on 76 to give Harborough their 20th league win of the season so far.
There were six goals at Sargeants Lawn in the local derby between Rothwell Corinthians and Desborough Town as the visitors claimed the points with a 4-2 victory. Luke Phillips gave Rothwell the lead on 8 minutes, but Will Arnold headed home against his old club to level on 16. The home side regained the lead on the stroke of half-time through Jordan Henson, but Ar Tarn took charge after the break and won it through a Jason Turner penalty on 71 and the same player with a close range header two minutes later giving them the lead. Arnold got his second of the match on 81 when he hammered a shot home as Desborough completed the double over their neighbours.
Kirby Muxloe won their local derby at home to St Andrews by an impressive 5-0, meaning the luckless visitors had shipped fifteen goals in their last two games without troubling the scorers themselves.

DIVISION ONE

Stewarts & Lloyds crashed 1-8 at home to Thrapston Town as they fell apart after the break. It was 1-2 at the interval with Rolandas Lukesatis on target for the Foundrymen, but Thrapston recorder their biggest win of the season with Luke Cummins grabbing a hat-trick and Liam Hanley, Liam Carter, Kaine Clinton and Jedd Whiteman amongst the other scorers.
Irchester United held champions Pinchbeck United to a 1-1 draw at Alfred Street thanks to Matt Keenleyside’s 89th minute leveller. Tom Sargeant had given the visitors the lead half-an-hour into the game.

PREMIER DIVISION

Wisbech Town boosted their promotion hopes with a 1-0 win at fourth-placed Holbeach United. Former Tiger Jamie Stevens scoring the game’s only goal on 22 minutes to keep success in the Fenmen’s own hands.
Newport Pagnell Town did similar at the top as they won 3-0 at Oadby Town. Dom Lawless struck twice on 67 and 69 to ease the Swans nerves and Luke Emery rounded things off in stoppage time.

DIVISION ONE

Lutterworth Town kept their promotion dream alive with a 6-0 home crushing of Melton Town at Dunley Way. James Parker got the first after 35 minutes and that man Tendai Daire made it two on 65 as the floodgates opened. Kade Lewis (68 & 80) and Jordan Small (85 & 87) both netted doubles, with the sending-off of James Hollis adding to the Melton misery.
Lutterworth Athletic couldn’t make the most of playing their away fixture against Buckingham Town at home as the Robins ran out 4-1 winners. Jefferson Woodward’s 36th minute strike the only plus point for Atho.
Burton Park Wanderers were 3-1 winners over Bugbrooke St Michaels at Latimer Park. Luke Eaton scoring twice after 13 and 67, with young sub Josh Ozier adding the third ten minutes from time.
Rushden & Higham United returned to winning ways with a 4-2 win over fellow inconsistent side Bourne Town at Hayden Road. Leading scorer Dylan Wilson opened up a two-goal lead after 19 and 23, but Bourne pulled it back to 2-2. Ross Patrick restored The Lankies advantage after 70 minutes and Uthiel Lewis finished the wakes off with the home side’s fourth three minutes from the end.

PREMIER DIVISION

Cogenhoe United made it three straight wins with a 1-0 success at Boston Town. The long trip was made worthwhile thanks to Montel Dore’s ninth goal of the season on 39 minutes, although they had to thank keeper Callum Patching for a fantastic diving save and some great defending too as Boston pushed for an equaliser.
Leicester Nirvana went down 1-2 at home to Desborough Town with Ryan Calver on target for the home side in a game switched to Friar Lane & Epworth.

DIVISION ONE

It was bottom versus top in Corby and after letting in eight two days earlier, Stewarts & Lloyds will have been relieved to concede just the one, even if it did mean Pinchbeck United claimed the win. Liam Ogden getting the vital goal for The Knights.

Saturday 28th April 2018

PREMIER DIVISION

Yaxley are still top following a comprehensive 5-1 home win over Leicester Nirvana. Former Sileby Rangers defender Dalton Bettles netted his first goal for the leaders to put them in front, but Shaquille Master levelled things up for the Leicester side. Dan Cotton and Phil Stebbing put Yaxley in charge, before the formidable Cotton bagged two more to complete another hat-trick and take their tally to five.
Wisbech Town will be champions if they win their last two games after an even more resounding 6-0 thrashing of Oadby Town. Jon Fairweather got the ball rolling in the 11th minutes and Alex Beck (31) and Josh Ford (45) had made it three before the break. Ford (56 & 70) completed his hat-trick and, Beck got his second (76) as The Fenmen now sit a point behind the leaders with a game in hand. If Yaxley win at Kirby Muxloe on Tuesday, Wisbech will have to win both their remaining games to pip them as The Cuckoos are already 21 goals better off. In one of those ironic twists, both the Fenmen’s remaining fixtures are against Daventry Town.
Newport Pagnell Town will have to hope for a slip-up from the top two now after losing 2-1 at ten-men Holbeach United. Charley Sanders gave the Tigers the lead after 5 minutes, but was sent-off again after using his elbow after just 14. Dave Baker header The Swans level, but their promotion dreams took a real bashing when Mitch Griffiths grabbed a winner for the home side two minutes from time. They can still do it if they win their final two games, but they are reliant on Yaxley and Wisbech dropping points to do so.
Eynesbury Rovers cruised to a 3-0 win at Desborough Town, meaning their hosts cannot catch them in sixth spot. A James Tricks brace and one from Hayden Bream giving them maximum points from the game.
Sleaford Town could still end up in the relegation zone, but they boosted their survival chances with a 2-0 win over ON Chenecks at Eslaforde Park. Archie Moyses gave the Green Army the lead from the penalty spot after half-an-hour and Simon Bolland lobbed the visiting keeper on forty to double the lead.
Peterborough Northern Star haven’t had too much success this season, but they will pleased with their 2-0 victory at Kirby Muxloe. Josh Rosser converted form Sam Wilson’s square pass on 37 minutes and Jake Sansby followed up after Rosser had seen his shot saved by Warren Butlin on 57 to complete the scoring.

DIVISION ONE

Potton United are celebrating promotion after their 3-0 home win over Thrapston Town and Lutterworth Town’s 1-2 reverse at home to the already crowned champions Pinchbeck United.
The Royals took the lead on 16 minutes through Aaron Murrell, but they had to wait until twelve minutes from time for Danny Webb to pop up with the second and calm those nerves. Gary Ansell-Carter netted the third on ninety minutes and League Chairman John Weeks was able to present them with their well-earned trophies at the end of the game.
Lutterworth Town had led 1-0 at the break against Pinchbeck, but Ollie Maltby and manager Ian Dunn made themselves the toast of Potton with their second half goals.
Huntingdon Town have been on the other end of a lot of hammerings over the last couple of seasons, so let’s not begrudge them their 7-0 win over Melton Town at Jubilee Park. Corey Kingston added two to his season’s tally, with Richard Baines doing likewise. Liam Rodden, Jon Hall and James Seymour were also on target.
Harrowby United are finishing the season strongly and they were 3-0 winners at home Burton Park Wanderers. Sam Grouse added a couple, his first from the penalty-spot, after Jawanza Grant had opened the scoring for The Arrows.
Bourne Town continue to frustrate. Despite holding the interval lead through Jezz Goldson-Williams 23rd minute strike, visiting Rushden & Higham United bounced back to take the points. The prolific Dylan Wilson made it one-apiece and Nat Gosnal-Tyler bagged a winner for the Lankies giving them an extremely quick double over The Wakes.
Blackstones saw off Buckingham Town 4-1 at Lincoln Road with Jones De Sousa celebrating a hat-trick (5, 46 & 75) with joint-boss Lee Clarke also on target on the hour.
Bugbrooke St Michaels ran out 3-1 winners at Oakham United with the home side already doomed to finish second bottom.
Scott Sandy gave Long Buckby the lead at home to Olney Town, but the fifth placed Nurserymen finished off their UCL life with a 2-1 win thanks to a second-half comeback. Olney are currently fifth, but three clubs can still overtake them should they win their remaining games.
Raunds Town can still take third spot after beating Irchester United 4-1 at Kiln Park. Ty Clark getting two of their goals with Mason Thomas and Dave Townsend also on target.
