Cogenhoe aim for early Christmas celebration as Corinthians come to Compton Park.

1 month ago By Paul Jackson

Forget the Christmas shopping, Compton Park is the only place to be come 3pm on Saturday.

Compton Park
KO 3pm

Tomorrow sees the Cooks final home game of 2018 as we look to continue our unbeaten run and climb up the table at home to third from bottom Rothwell Corinthians. While we are unbeaten in eight, seven of which have been victories and are sitting seventh, Corinthians have also enjoyed some decent form and have climbed from bottom to move five points ahead of Whitworth. They didn’t pick up their first three points until five weeks ago when five second half goals saw them thrash fellow strugglers Boston Town 6-2 at Seargents Lawn, but since then they have also also beaten Kirby Muxloe (3-1) and picked up draws against O.N Chenecks and Harborough Town meaning that eight of the ten points they have secured this season have come in their last five matches. Tomorrow’s game will be a lot tougher than our last home game when we stuffed Whitworth 6-0 here with Ryan Dove grabbing a hat-trick to take his tally onto 22 for the season, which by coincidence is exactly the same number of goals Rothwell have scored as a team so far this season in their premier division campaign.
Last season’s game here in the league resulted in three points for the Cooks, but we had to fight for it with Dove’s 77th minute strike proving to be the game’s only goal. This completed a league double as we had previously beaten them 4-2 in Rothwell and also knocked them out of the Vase over their place by 4-2 after a 1-1 draw at Compton Park.

Don’t forget our Boxing Day game away at O.N Chenecks is a 1pm kick-off in what will be our final game of the year.

Finally, we have had a couple of birthdays with this proving to be a very expensive time in the Wright household. Our Chairman Derek was celebrating earlier in the week and secretary Jon is a year older today. A very Happy Birthday to both and thanks for all the hard work you do to keep this fantastic club going.
Also an early Happy Birthday to Liam Tuck who is celebrating on Christmas eve, so we hope you enjoy your double celebration, but not too much to affect your performance at Chenecks!
