FUTURE LIONS UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-PREMIER DIVISION
ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS v COGENHOE UNITED
Sargeants Lawn,
Desborough Road
Rothwell
NN14 6JR
KICK-OFF 3PM.

The Cooks are still looking for their first win of 2019 after being held 0-0 at Newport Pagnell on Tuesday night despite totally dominating the first half-hour, although the home side could easily have snatched the points at the end even though they had been down to ten men for the last half-hour. It had been a similar state of affairs at home to Oadby the previous week and we probably should have had both games wrapped up by half-time, but just one goal in 180 minutes has meant we have dropped four points in those two matches. We must remember that we have only lost once in thirteen games though, with that defeat coming in a controversial 2-3 loss at home to Rugby in a game we certainly didn’t deserve to lose.
Rothwell Corinthians sit third from the bottom and after a couple of straight wins they have failed to win any of their last eight games, but four draws, including an impressive 2-2 at Leicester Nirvana last weekend, show they are moving in the right direction in their bid to hold on to their Premier Division status. We only met at Compton Park a few weeks ago and Cogenhoe really had to battle for their 2-1 victory that day. A Luke Stone penalty put us ahead just before the hour, but Adefolarin Ademidun pulled Corinthians level before Ryan Dove stepped up with the winning goal on 72.
Last season we met four times with the Cooks winning three of them. Both games at Sargeants Lawn ended in away wins, the first coming in an F.A Vase on the foulest of foul nights. We ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a Luis Vieira double which sandwiched Lewis O’Dell’s equaliser with all the goals coming in the first half. Ryan Ansell blazed a late penalty over the top but justice was done that night as it really should never have been awarded in the first place. The league game was an absolute cracker as Cogenhoe led 2-0 at the break, Rothwell drew level, then Cooks added two more to run out 4-2 winners. The late sending-offs of Robson Kightley and Dom Page really rubbed salt into the wounds of the home side too. Ryan Dove, Liam Tuck, Montel Dore and Séan McBride were on target for the Cooks with Joe Wright and an Andy White penalty counting for the home side. Stuart Lutter saved a very dubious penalty right at the death as well on a very entertaining evening in east Northants.

FUTURE LIONS UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-RESERVE DIVISION
COGENHOE UNITED Reserves v YAXLEY Reserves
Compton Park
Kick-off 3pm.

It’s 4th v 5th at Compton Park as the Cooks entertain Yaxley Reserves in the reserve division. The Cooks are in fine form and haven’t conceded a goal in their last five league outings on a six-match winning run. The Cuckoos lost 2-1 at Harborough Town in the battle of the plastic pitches last weekend, but seven days earlier they showed their worth with a 6-0 thrashing of Newport Pagnell Town at Leading Drove. Connor Pilbeam is their main marksman this season, the ex-Peterborough Northern Star man having bagged 21 already, while Bradlee Page (13) and Jamie Scott (12) also have double figures. It ended 4-1 to Yaxley in the reverse game this season, Craig Hayward’s first defeat since taking over in the summer, although he was actually on holiday at the time.
