WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN v COGENHOE UNITED

Dog & Duck Ground,
London Road,
Wellingborough

It’s local derby time on Saturday as The Cooks make the short trip down the A45 to the Dog & Duck ground where Wellingborough Town will be playing hosts. The Doughboys lsit two places and two points behind Cogenhoe, although they have played two games less before this mid-table clash. These type of games are often difficult to predict with both sides having plenty of ability but lacking the consistency to push them up the table, plus the added incentive of a local derby always seems to increase the unpredictability. Both teams lost on their travels last weekend as Cogenhoe went down 0-1 at Boston Town and Wellingborough were beaten 2-0 by Leicester Nirvana so both managers will be looking for an improvement, especially in front of goal for this one. Prior to last weekend the Doughboys had won their previous four games, two in the league and two in the cups and Gary Petts’ teams are usually competitive so hopefully a good game is on the cards tomorrow.
Last season’s visit to the Dog & Duck was a miserable one for Cogenhoe with the home side running out very comfortable 3-0 winners on a Tuesday night. Deven Ellwood scored the first two and Jack Wisniewski put the cherry on the top with a third ten minutes from the end.

FUTURE LIONS UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-RESERVE DIVISION

COGENHOE UNITED Reserves v BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS Reserves

The Reserves are back at home following their superb midweek cup win at Desborough with Bugbrooke St Michaels heading back to Compton Park to try again after the game earlier in the season was ended early following an injury to Curtis Avery. That game was tied at 2-2 at the time of the stoppage and with The Badgers just one point above Cogenhoe we are likely to be in for another close game tomorrow. Incidentally Bugbrooke will be our opponents in the semi-final of the league cup with the match taking place at Gayton Road with the date yet to be confirmed.

Both games kick-off at 3pm.
