Cogenhoe United face their last away game of the season as they travel to Nirvana tomorrow.

Cogenhoe United finally make their first visit to Leicester Nirvana’s ‘new’ ground tomorrow night as they take to the field for the second but last time this season. Nirvana have had all sorts of problems with the drainage at Hamilton Park in their first full season on the ground and after numerous postponements they played on a couple of college 3G pitches before playing several games at former UCL club Quorn AFC.
The Leicester side were in action on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon and it saw them lift the UCL Knock-Out Cup after beating champions Yaxley 1-0 at Kiln Park, avenging a hefty 5-1 defeat they had suffered at Leading Drove just over a week previous. That was their third defeat on the trot, but they have picked up form again with four straight wins, the latter being the cup final success. Goals have not been a problem for them this season, they have three players in the 20s and have scored exactly 100 league goals, not bad for a team sitting in seventh place in the table, but they have shipped 58 at the other end. They are currently two places above the Cooks and three points clear with a much better goal difference, meaning we would have to win by 12 goals to overtake them tomorrow, but we still have another game to go. Winning both would secure sixth place for The Cooks so we still have a lot to aim for.
The game at Compton Park way back last September saw the then league leaders beat the then struggling Cooks 4-1. Daniel Durkin’s hat-trick was his third in as many games, while Chris Wreh came off the bench to score a minute into his Cooks debut, but that was as good as it got during time in the blue.
The last time we played away to Nirvana they were still at Highfield Rangers ground and with most of the floodlights not working, it really should have been stopped by the referee early in the second half. Both sides were struggling at the time and Nirvana built up a three-goal lead through Will Gonga, Abu Cisse and Melanius Mullarkey, but Cogenhoe pulled it back to 2-3 before the end with Danny Harmon and Rhys Taylor on target. We had been forced to travel without a keeper too after a last minute let-down and Alex Lowery bravely donned the gloves for the day and in truth found out just how difficult that job is.
The address for Leicester Nirvana is;
Hamilton Park,
Sandhills Avenue,
Leicester,
