Short on availability long on "Club spirit"!

Dear Club,
Availability last weekend become a real issue and threatened to put fixtures in jeopardy but thanks to a tremendous effort from our Captains, Colts and friends we put out 5 teams over the weekend. The Clubs thanks go to everyone who turned out and particularly the stand in Captains who had to manage the resources that were available.
Results wise the 1st XI picked up a win away at Mistley in no small part thanks to AB rolling back the years to run out the League’s highest runs scorer for 0! This helped CTCC restrict Mistley to 158 in their 50 overs which Coggeshall knocked off for the loss of 5 wickets.
The 2nd XI suffered the most from the lack of availabilities but with 3rd XI stalwarts Alex “the knees” Wickens (51), Rich “boomer” Grey (26) and George "runs" Brew (29)stepping up they picked up a valuable 7 points in a loss to Ipswich and East Suffolk.
The 3rd XI had to take on a strong Eight Ash Green side at the Airfield and with colts and parents stepping up to fill the vacant positions a lack of experience if not enthusiasm was their biggest hurdle. Some fine bowling by Rebecca Wilson kept the opposition in check and with support from the team in the field the side managed to gather a couple of valuable points.
Sunday saw both sides defeated but with some notable performances. For the 1's Tom Pickles (83) and in-form George Brew (62) helped the side to a decent 209-8 total although unfortunately it proved to be a little light. In the 2s some disciplined bowling from the colts particularly JJ Ford 2-23 from 8 and Jonjo McCabe 1-9 off 6 added to the fire from Charlie Gibson 2-24 from 8 and the experience of debutant Tom Rowe 1-21 from 6. The bowling allowed CTCC to defend a low total of 106 all the way to the 35th over before Galleywood took victory. Thanks should be noted to Galleywood for their understanding when CTCC lost their opening bat and opening bowler D McCabe to a muscle injury in the first over (before he had faced a ball!)when they allowed CTCC to replace the player. It should also be noted that Donal did manage to put in one superb performance on the day in delivering a great tea!
Prior to the senior matches the U13s had entertained a large crowd in the sunshine as they took on Rainham in the Peter Coe Cup. Having been set a target of 135 in 30 overs Coggeshall got off to an awful start when after 2.3 overs they were 9-4! The lads showed true determination and no little class in then going on to chase down the total with 11 balls to spare. Clearly the U13s understand that they are in the "entertainment business"!! Well done everyone.
The week ahead, weather permitting sees colts fixtures, training and 6 games over the Bank Holiday weekend so please get your availabilities in asap!
