Woodbridge Under 16 0 – Colchester U16A 19
Colchester travelled to Woodbridge without their Eastern Counties contingent to face a big powerful Woodbridge team looking to put one over Colchester.
Colchester started strongly in wet and windy conditions playing a controlled game in both attack and defence, not letting the big powerful Woodbridge pack gain an upper hand in the set piece or loose. Colchester marshalled superbly by man of the match Parry probed and pushed for most of the first half but had to wait until just before the break to add the first points of the game, a well worked try finished off by Chanda.
The 2nd half saw a back to the walls performance for 20 minutes, where a black wall stood firm from continual Woodbridge assaults. The strong fitness of the Colchester team showed in the final 10 minutes with 2 scored added by Norfolk to make the score-line a deserved 19-0 to Colchester.

Colchester U16B 7 – Rochford U16 22

Sudbury U16 0 – Colchester U16C 29
In a competetive and well contested game of rugby, Colchester earned themselves a fine win against a very willing and hard working opposition. Colchester played very well in patches but also had periods of frustration when errors were made and possession conceded cheaply; so some things still to continue to develop on the training pitch. Colchester were dominant in the lineout, equally matched in the scrum, and created far more try scoring opportunities than their opposition, moving the ball swiftly when in possession via the lively backline. Many thanks must go to Ben Scoynes and Jamie Carruthers who showed the spirit of rugby by each playing a half in Sudbury colours.
Colchester made an impressive start to the game. Chasing their own kick-off, the Sudbury pack was turned over and with their first attack of the game, Colchester moved the ball swiftly down the line to give full-back Ben Ward the opportunity to dive over in the corner. Only five minutes later, the Colchester forwards recycled the ball through the phases allowing second row Alex Dafforn the chance to power in from close range. However, after this excellent beginning, Colchester seemed to relax a little, allowing Sudbury into the game. Colchester handling errors and indecision disrupted the away side's rythym for periods of the first half and further scoring chances were limited as a result. Half Time: Sudbury 0 Colchester C 10
A much better second half followed for Colchester. Almost immediately after the restart, second row Chris Palmer received the ball from his forward colleagues and powered over to score to extend the lead. With better structure to their game, Colchester maintained their advantage in both territory and possession; great team play being exhibited when forwards and backs interchanged to move the ball three-quarters of the way up the pitch, before winger Scott Adams broke through but was caught just short of the line. The pressure told when the Sudbury defence fumbled a kick through by fly-half Mikey Johnston and centre Lee Robinson pounced to touch down. Then Palmer again was on hand to round off some further good forward work to pick up and cross from very close range. As the game drew to its conclusion, the game Sudbury side came more into the match but were unable to breach the determined Colchester defence.

Colchester U14 1st 33 – Aylsford Bulls U14 10
During the opening exchanges it soon became obvious that Colchester's lighter but highly organised pack were more than a match for their heavier opponents. Also in the backs the Raven's ferocity in the tackle stifled any threat from Aylesford's big ball carriers.
Two early tries from debutant Harry Zimmerman and one from Alfie Bourne gave the home team a comfortable lead.
In the second half Colchester started with a number of changes in the forwards and backs, stretching their lead with further tries from Tom Batley and Skipper Leo Tyler. The remaining points came from the boot of Harrison Bacon.

Colchester U14 3rd 39 - Witham 14
Guy Hunt and Greg Cooke were instrumental in this comfortable win as they ran the game behind the dominant Colchester forwards. Despite a Guy Hunt dummy and side step releasing Finlay Nuttall early in the game Witham were first to score with their inside centre and best player outpacing the Colchester backs. However, this only served to spur on Colchester. Turnover ball released Finlay Nuttall who ran around the Witham fullback to score under the posts. Elliot Adams then scored the first of his five tries when Tom Zasinski turned over the ball to release Hayden Cowan. Hayden was held up over the line but Joe Shaw-Finch won quick ball at the scrum which allowed Elliot to execute a number 8 pick up to score.
Colchester dominated the second half from the kick off. Elliot Adams first scored on the right wing when he was released by Tom Zasinski. He then scored on the left wing after Guy Hunt and Greg Cooke combined to create the space. As Colchester continued to control the game Shervin Alvandour turned the ball over at the lineout which almost led to a Greg Cooke try after he combined well with Ewan Waters but a last ditch Witham tackle led to Greg losing the ball over the try line. However, from the scrum Elliot Adams added his fourth try. Witham's number 12 ran in a consolation score before Nathan Linscott and Elliot Adams ran in tries for Colchester. Greg Cooke then sealed the Colchester victory with a well deserved try following an individual kick and chase.

Upminster U13 19 – Colchester U13 1st15
A hastily assembled Colchester U13 1st team took on a good quality Upminster team away from home. A slow start saw the Colchester team penned back in their own 22 for the first 5 minutes or so before Upminster moved the ball wide to their speedy winger and scored the first try of the match. Colchester responded well and put Upminster under a sustained period of pressure, competing well up front and moving the ball across the back line for phase after phase. Colchester might well have scored during this period but for a wet, slippery ball and a few basic errors in execution. Upminster eventually lifted the pressure with a breakaway try from their fastest player who ran the length of the pitch to score. The half ended 14-0 to Upminster despite Colchester having the lion’s share of possession.
The second half saw a strong response from Colchester and a series of sweeping attacks up the pitch, with our forwards starting to dominate up front and our backs looking menacing out wide, ended with Jamie B touching down. Upminster replied instantly with their best move of the game to go 19-5 ahead but from there on Colchester were the only team in it. More great rucking from the forwards and great hands from the backs ended with Finn McCartney powering over from 5 yards out. From the re-start, Colchester were straight on the attack again and Upminster were powerless to stop the momentum which ended with Tom Reid slicing through their defence to make it 19-15. With less than 2 minutes to go and Upminster in possession Liam Beton read play perfectly and intercepted for a clear run at the line from 70 yards, unfortunately he was hauled down after about 30 and Upminster scrambled the ball away before the referee blew for full time.
If there had been five more minutes, Colchester looked a certainty to win it but, nonetheless, a great team performance with everyone playing well and contributing.
