Crowd Watch: Nearly 100 turned up anticipating a scorcher, armchair diehards were being treated to several war stories and tales of countless 50 yard screamers. My accomplice complaining of " when he were a lad of 9 how he hated playing on the sloping pitch" as we had returned to our spiritual roots Foley Road as the FLA was no longer available.

Manager Watch: Big Eck was without his trusted side kick Mancini who was sunning himself in Egypt......... Matt was eagerly awaiting his customary one day promotion and had come armed with tactic boards and half time oranges for the boys ........ but wait Big Eck had recruited a stand-in .......citing Matt’s marvellous video skills as the overriding factor in his decision....... a tear was seen trickling down Matt’s cheek but he said he just had something in his eye. Talking of our trusted leader – he had spent 3 hours cutting the grass on Tuesday night only for the council to roll up on Thursday and do the monthly grass cut !! Only Big Eck ….

Game on: Colron started slowly with Studley having the better of the early exchanges and they quickly went ahead. Josh & Dexter were really getting stuck in and with Taylor & Morgan’s probing runs, Alfie F & Danny tracking back and keeper Sam kicking well we started to get the upper hand. Josh intercepted well and his slide rule pass found Danny on the edge of the box and he duly rifled home. Colron poured forward, forcing a succession of corners, playing some delightful footie and when a miscued clearance fell to Alfie F fully 20 yards out he hammered home to put Colron in the lead. Studley were then awarded a freekick on the half way line and Studley’s Charlie curled in the equaliser with Sam unsighted .

2nd Half: Alfie F had great shot saved straight from the off. Alfie U, Dexter & Josh were really getting stuck in winning every 50-50 but Studley went ahead from another Charlie freekick but this signalled the famous Colron tempo to move up a few gears typified by MOTM Morgan skipping past Studley defenders setting Taylor , Danny and Alfie F with good shooting opportunities all being blocked or saved. Studley were now camped around their own box relying on long rang clearances which Dexter was dealing with well. Sam saved well from a Studley breakaway. Danny saw a first time effort spin just wide and with the clock ticking yet another Colron corner caused an almighty scramble with us hitting the post twice and having 3 attempts kicked off the line - the Diehards were trying to suck the ball home. Great first leg and poised for a great return leg next week .

Terrace Talk: "Exciting game of footie played by two talented teams – I thought we had scored in the late goalmouth scramble but well played - really proud of all of you " Nanny Jacqui.

Inside Bootroom: We came up against a very good team today. The boys played some lovely football at times, we just didn't get the rub of the green. I am so proud of the way they battled especially in the 2nd half and here's to next weekend when hopefully we can get what we deserve.
Well done boys you were credit to Colron
