Well, what turned out to be a great game for the impartial spectator resulted in another frustrating game for the Colron supporter (and management!)
The football was free flowing and at times of a very good standard, however the chances created were just not taken and there were too many to mention. Instead, after 20minutes of play when we should’ve been at least 2 goals up, we found ourselves 2 goals down but credit to the lads they battled on and from Kayne’s corner, Joshua Johnson pulled 1 pack just before halftime with a glancing header.
Tactics sorted out for the second half soon became redundant after barely 2 minutes when we let Shenley walk through and pull ahead all too easily. This seemed to rock the lads and ‘panic mode’ quickly set in with Shenley sensing this and pressed the lads constantly. As they did so, Aquil Prigg won the ball on the counter attack & fed through Harry Doherty who one on one with the keeper slotted the ball home. Next came probably the deciding factor of the game, Aquil once again pushing forward was brought down by the keeper and a penalty was awarded. For the next minute the lads ‘discussed’ who would take it as no one wanted to! As Captain, Kayne Raybone took the responsibility and uncharacteristically hit the ball straight at the keeper, unlucky but well done for stepping up Kayne. Over the next 15minutes or so plenty of chances were created but the finishing touch was just not there whilst at the other end it was becoming all too easy for the Shenley lads who were pushing forward far too easily and reaping the rewards. With 5 minutes to go Aquil latched onto a through ball from Gio and smashed it past the keeper to gain a little pride.

All in all, a little disappointing as Shenley were not 4 goals better then us, but the encouraging factor is that the lads CAN produce the football and they CAN make the chances, we just have to convert more and assert our presence more on the pitch at both ends.

Man Of The Match = Aquil
