Bears Victorious at Vics
The Bears visited in-form Northwich Victoria who were on a five game winning run. Several changes again to keep the squad fresh but once again another well deserved three points
Northwich started on the attack and had a couple of early chances with shots wide and straight at Craig Ellison. On nine minutes though it was the Bears who took the initiative. Dean Warburton picked up the ball in the centre of the Northwich half. He looked up and played a perfect through ball for Dan Cope to run on to and shot into the corner of the net from 15 yards. 1-0 Bears.
Connolly then had a chance for the home side but his shot was saved smartly by Ellison, diving to his right. Tom Morris then broke up another attack with a strong clearing header. Both sides were now creating half chances and from a free kick for handball just outside the Bears box, Brownhill curled a shot just over the bar then Matthew Jamieson was on hand to clear after Ellison was left stranded.
The home side were level on 37. Ellison made a good save from a header, tipping the ball over the bar, but from the resulting corner, the ball bounced around inside the Bears are and unfortunately it came off Jameson and into the net. 1-1.
Just before the interval the Bears went back in front. Pressure was being applied by the visitors and Schofield found Warburton who let fly from 25 yards, giving the keeper no chance.

The second half belonged to the Bears. They dominated possession and limited the home side to few chances. Morris, Schofield and then Stephens all had shots in the opening quarter of the half, either wide or blocked. On the hour Vics had their best chance from a corner but Josh Ryder was there to head clear.
On 65 minutes the Bears brought on Mini Adegbenro and Bev Burey and the former was quickly in the action, scoring the Bears third goal. Excellent team work saw the ball moved out to Morris and hits prefect pass to the far post allowed Adegbenro a fairly easy tap in to make it 3-1 to the Bears.
The final quarter of an hour saw more Bears pressure as the home side failed to cope with the determination of their opponents Billy Hasler-Cregg had a chance from a tight angle that just cleared the bar and Schofield went close with another opportunity.
A great run on the wing from Burey saw him Beat two defenders and cross into the box but the effort was blocked.
Vics had the final chance of the game but the shot went across goal with no one to collect.

This game had been a real test for the Bears and they came through it with flying colours, dominating most of the game. Chris Rowley, Bears Senior Football Director had this to say after the game
“Fantastic performance from the bears today who stuck to Pritch’s game plan perfectly. Cope the lone man up top who worked tirelessly with the ever creative Dean Warburton just behind him. Defensively solid, town were put under pressure first half and Vic’s deserved their equaliser. Second half saw the bears dominate in all areas, easily dealing with the few chances that came against them. A solid display all round and a great three points... on to the next”.
