Mini Phase – Weekly Review Head of Mini Phase Leighton Sumner

Some tough competitive fixtures for our mini sides this week away to Llandudno and Colwyn Bay.

Our U8s started very brightly from the first whistle scoring within the first minute. Jaeden Gordon had a superb individual performance and made things happen for the side particularly in the first 15 minutes of the game, this then seemed to spread across the team and we played with fantastic tempo throughout and won the match 12-5.

The U9s Result didn’t quite result didn’t reflect performance, against a strong Llandudno side they played some of their best football to date playing with great tempo and using the pitch size well switching play on numerous occasions, on another day we would have scored more but the football on display was enjoyable enough. Eventually we lost 3-2.

Our U10s were very short on numbers due to county matches and illness’s. 2 u9s were called into the squad and they did very well and gained some great experience playing a year up, unfortunately it was a very scrappy game and we didn't play as well as we know the boys are capable of and Llandudno punished our mistakes and we deserved to get beat 4-1 on the day, as our performance wasn't at our usual level.

The U11s dominated possession and created plenty of chances again but didn’t take them, Llandudno defended really well all game and caught us out on the break twice as our lads switched off resulting in a 2-1 defeat. Still a lot to work on as they progress into the bigger game.

The U12s played in their final Academy cup-qualifying match and initially struggled to break down a resilient Colwyn Bay defence. The boys stuck at their task and began to find openings and won the game by 2 goals to nil, and finished the qualifying group with a 100% record.

Thanks very much to Llandudno and Colwyn bay for hosting us.

Youth Phase – Weekly Review Head of Youth Phase Iain Bennett

13s played very well to draw 2-2 with Shrewsbury Friday night in a game where the players showed just how well they can play. Loui o Carrol scoring two screamers. On Sunday they traveled to play Llandudno with a lack lustre 1st half found themselves 2-0 down at HT, some key messages from coaches enabled the team to play with more energy and purpose in second half and eventually ran out deserving 5-2 winners.

Hugely disappointing 3 days for the U14’s. They struggled to get going and never really gave a proper account of themselves against Shrewsbury on Friday night. Following this was a terrible performance and result against Colwyn Bay on Sunday, leaving their academy cup qualification out of their hands.

15s won 6-1 against Llandudno away. Lads started very fast and went 2-0 up in two minutes. Created many chances moved the ball very well and finished the half 4-0 up but should have been a lot more.
Second half started a lot slower, still dominated the possession and controlled the game but fewer chances. Game finished 6-1 in a good footballing performance

16s finished the group stages win a great 6-1 win against Colwyn Bay Which makes them top of the group. We started slow and found ourselves 1-0 down and it took us 30 minutes to finally get into top gear and before half time we were 3-1 upWe dominated possession in the second half and played some great football and topped off with another 3 great goals.

Senior phase – Weekly Review Head of Senior Phase Iain Bennett

A great week for the senior phase saw our scholars travel to play FC Fylde in the College Catagory 1 league. The players were exceptional on the day, controlled the game from a tactical point of view and limited the team that was 2nd in the table to very few efforts on goal, eventually winning the game 4-0 and could have been a few more, great start to the week for the phase.

On Saturday we took on Bradley Park in league action and took control of the game from start to finish, winning the game 10-0 with some outstanding performances on the day, coaches Matt and Kev were both very pleased with the performance and the professionalism of the players as they carried out the game plan excellently.

On Sunday we hosted Caernarfon in the Welsh Premier Development League, Caernarfon proved to be tough opposition for 30 minutes as there shape of 5,4,1 proved tough to break down, they were resolute in defence and caused issues on the break, a goal finally arrived just before half time and could have been better just for a penalty saved by the Caernarfon keeper. Into the second half and after a brief chat about what we can do to improve the boys set out exploiting this and ran away 4-0 winners and could have been more but a excellent seconds half performance from them.

Well done on a great week and 3 clean sheets.
