A great weekend, which saw under 14 players Thomas Bridges, Will Leonard, Benjamin Waddilove, Leon Doran and Thomas Bibby all represent the North Wales selectt squad over the weekend.
Under 14 striker George Rathbone earned himself selection for the national side in the four team event. Rathbone was the only player selected for the national team who wasn’t at a professional club. A fantastic achievement by the player.
The competition, which took part in Aberystwyth consisted of a select North, South and Mid Wales squads which were selected from academies in those areas.
All teams played each other once with games taking place at Aberystwyth and Penrncoch first team grounds.
As well as playing in these high quality games the players experienced after match analysis of their performance and were given an insight into the Welsh international way of football through out the event.
A big well done to all players involved, and a massive well done to Rathbone who set up two goals in the first game against south Wales and scored an impressive hat trick for the national side in the four nil victory against North Wales.
The game on day two between Wales and the North Wales squad saw a total of ten current or ex Nomads academy players on the pitch with ex players Aaron Dowsett, Liam Davies, George Meredith who are now all at professional clubs playing for the national team as well as current Nomads players Rathbone, with Doran, Leonard, Waddilove, Bibby and Bridges all playing for the North team.
A massive well done to all players involved, who represented their squads superbly.
