Another fantastic day for our U8-U11 sides kicked off early at breakfast time when our players got to meet a number of world class current and former Spanish players including the likes of Xabi Alonso, Raul, Marcos Senna, Julio Baptista, Xavi amongst others.
These huge names are currently staying at the same hotel as ourselves undertaking their intense UEFA B and A license courses. The players were fantastic having a number of pictures with players, staff and parents which was great to see.
Following this exciting start to the morning, it was back onto the coach as we set off for training sessions at Atletico Madrid. On arrival players were split into three groups including goalkeepers, U8s and U9s along with U10s and U11s, having sessions with academy coaches of the club.
The sessions focused around specific passing and possession elements and players standards and behaviour was superb through out with great energy levels on show.
Follow the session Atletico Madrid staff presented scarfs to all players and staff, which was a great touch. All of our party then enjoyed a small time in the clubs shop on site before returning back to the hotel for lunch.
After an afternoon recovering our sides travelled away for their second lot of friendly fixtures late afternoon, which saw us face La Liga B professional academy sides Alcoron for our U8s and U9s and C.F Fuenlabrada for our U10s and U11s.
Our U8s kicked off against Alcoron in arguably the performance of the evening narrowly beaten by three goals to two in a real end to end encounter. Our U9s followed against a very strong side which saw Alcoron defeat them by five goals to nil.
Our U10s and U11s faced C.F Fuenlabrada who have a well known and respected academy with a city population of over 400,000 to select players from. Our U10s faced arguably the toughest test against a technically and tactically gifted side which ran out comfortable winners.
Our under 11s who had defeated Getafe the night previous also face Fuenlabrada and were drawing the game one all at half time thanks to a wonder strike from Blake Murray. Nomads created plenty of chances, but were hit on the break twice late on and fell to an three one defeat.
Another outstanding night of games and experiences for all involved which will aid all players in their long term development.
Another late return to the hotel followed by evening meal in preparation for day four today, which will see our sides train at Rayo Vallecano, followed by an afternoon in Madrid city centre and culminating in going to the Bernebau this evening to watch Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao in La Liga action.
At tonights evening meal their will be presentations for winners of Player Player, Coaches Player and Supporters Player of the Tour across all four age groups.
