Monday evening nearly 300 kids took part in games between Nomads and Morecambe from under 9s to 16s.

With the weather trying its best to cancel the games for a second week running, some great work by Nomads staff in particular Mark Rowlands who was at the pitches four hours before kick off and Danny Cunnah who both aided with all the nets and goals for the night for all sides.

A number of alterations had to be made with the 9s, 10s and 11s all having to play on the astro turf as did our 15s, as well as the 12s and 13s having to play 10v10 with ¾ goals with the 6 yard boxes completely out of action on their pitch with surface water.

But all kids got game time, and all games were extremely competitive with very good football on display in difficult conditions.

Our new under 9 and 10 sides performed superbly and both recorded great results defeating the Morecambe opposition 3-1 and 4-2 respectively.

Our under 11 and 12 sides who were both trialing a number of new players for the matches fell to a 4-0 and 3-1 defeat.

Our older age groups saw mixed results again similar to our junior sides, with our more established sides the 13s and 15s both winning 2-0 in very good performances. Our 14s and 16s both fell to 3-1 defeats. But again with many trialists and new formations being played it was a good test for the sides.

All in all a successful night at the high school which saw both the Nomads and Morecambe sides win four games each with all games being extremely competitive.

It was great to see all Nomads sides back in action in preparation for the new campaign.

Training is as normal next Monday evening for all sides.
