This Sunday saw our three academy teams face The New Saints away. With two losses and a draw it wasn’t the best of day’s results wise.

But on a performance level all three teams did very well against a full time youth set up.

Our under 12’s found themselves drawing four all with their TNS opposition. After a great start taking an early three goal lead after a great Liam Smith hat trick the side dipped and allowed TNS back into the game.

Joel Sampson scored the fourth goal with Ben Wadilove winning man of the match.

The under 16’s followed with a very hard to swallow defeat against a strong TNS side. Preperations weren’t ideal with five players out injured and goalkeeper Ryan Thomas being forced to play at left wing with the side having a bare eleven.

Two of TNS’ goals came from penalties. The side were also denied a blatant penalty and had two efforts cleared off the line.

Even with the result the side did themselves proud. Goals came from Aled Reece and man of the match Andrew Hoxby. Special mention goes to Ryan Thomas who did a great job for the side playing outfield.

The under 14’s played at the Venue in a floodlight game with the best quality game of the three. The side couldn’t have started any better going one nil up after some great work by man of the match Rhys Peers to set up Samuel Wainwright who finished well.

TNS though put the pressure and found themselves taking a two one lead. Their was a late penalty shout after Peter Owen was brought down in the area but was waved on by the referee.

Even with the results the performances in particular from the 16’s and 14’s were of a very high standard and a lot of lessons were learnt by all at the academy.

All match reports and player statistics have been updated from the games.
