Thomas Shurmer a fully qualified sports therapist has joined the academy and will be linking up with all academy teams on a Monday evening.

This is great news for the academy and shows how we are trying to raise the professionalism of the club both on and off the field.

Tom will be a great addition to the academy and will be available for any academy player to see on a Monday night. All Tom’s rehabilitation and injury prevention work is done on the pitch and he will be floating around all sides training sessions on a Monday night.

If any player has an injury they must attend training still and Tom will be able to help the recovery process.

Any player who needs assistance must text Tom at least four hours prior to training to confirm they wish to see him.

Any player who may get injured at training will also be able to see him immediately.

Shurmer will also be linking up directly with our under 19’s on a Sunday afternoon as well as coming to a number of younger academy games across the season.

Tom graduated with a BSc (hons) degree in Sports Therapy and physiotherapy from the University of Central Lancashire in 2010.

As well as working with the Preston university football sides he has also previous experience working with Preston North End ladies and a number of there academy sides.

Tom works full time in the day and will only be able to be contacted via text.

We welcome Tom to the academy and hope players can benefit from his great knowledge and experience in the sports therapy and physiotherapy side of the game.
