Another action packed weekend for the academy kicked off last Friday evening with our under 14s hosting Lexlip United from Republic of ireland. A tough game for our under 14s which saw them come away with a three one victory.
Our under 16s followed with a friendly fixture vs Cammel Lairds. Due to injuries and players away for half term the players began the game with ten players and were reduced to nine due to injury but performed well and won the game three one also.
Saturday morning our mini sides travelled away to Bangor City for friendly fixtures in four very competitive games which saw wins for our U8s and U9s and defeats for U10s and U11s.
Unfortunately our U18 game vs Aston was postponed due to opposition unable to field a team. Our U19s game on Sunday away to Conwy was also postponed but this time due to water logged pitch.
Our U13 and U15s travelled away to Bangor City Sunday for fixtures with both sides beaten by the same score line of five goals to two.
But the main action Sunday came in the Academy Cup Super Six with our three sidea in action at The Quay 3G.
The under 16s were first up who won their home fixture to Flint Town United by six goals to nil. A very strong performance which leaves the Nomads side on four points following the first two fixtures.
Our under 14s faced Rhyl for the mid day kick off. A side that had beaten The Nomads in the preliminary rounds of the competition just a few months prior. A superb performance saw the U14s storm to a four nil victory and with it be on six points following the first two games.
Our ever impressive under 12s tis season faced Flint to complete the day of games and were well beaten by two goals to one. A very disappointing performance from the side, but great lessons learned which will be very important for their on going development.
Well done to all sides on another enjoyable weekend of action.
