It was another good experience for the boys playing on a first team ground at Llansantffraid and playing under floodlights. The Nomads were up against good quality opposition with the majority of the team also playing for TNS.
Nomads made a great start to the game scoring after only three minutes. After a shot was blocked on goal Jack could see the keeper was off his line. He showed great composure to lift the ball over the keeper and defenders into the roof of the net.
Nomads created further chances with strong runs coming from Danny on the left and Andrew on the right. Unfortunately the ball didn’t quite fall to a Nomads player in the centre. When Llansantffraid did break the defence coped superbly. Again great discipline was shown throughout the team to keep their shape and track back when possession was lost.
Mitch and Declan maintained their concentration in defence and used the ball well when they won it. Joel and Kai read the ball well and looked solid as a unit. Shane was very reliable at left back and helped develop the Nomads attack on the left.
During the last ten minutes of the game Nomads defended their lead and despite being tired after playing on such a huge pitch continued to close down the opposition. The game finished a well deserved 1-0 score line.
Man of the match today was Liam Davies
who put in a captain’s performance in midfield. He was very solid in his challenges and used the ball well. His discipline to maintain his position, particularly towards the end of the game contributed to the great result.
