We played a more attacking formation for the visit of Llanwrst United. 3 - 5 - 2

We were comfortable early on as Llanwrst defended with everyone behind the ball as we tried to attack down the left with Jordan Beck. We tried little angled balls into James McIntosh who held up well to keep our attacks flowing but our final ball was our down fall early on.

Ryan Jones delivered a free kick from the half way line into the Llanwrst box, James McIntosh rose well to head down into the space but nobody had gambled and the loose ball was cleared.
We went ahead on 15 minutes when James McIntosh held the ball up on the right wing and turned his marker well, he then knocked the ball past the defender and raced down the right. James then crossed and Rhys Healey controlled well inside the box, turned and fired his shot past the keeper.

Nomads 1 - 0 Llanwrst

We then handed Llanwrst a gift on 20 minutes when their first attack ended with a poor challenge by Ryan Jones inside our own box on the Llanwrst striker and the referee awarded a penalty which was blasted into our net giving Jack Jones no chance. Nomads 1-1 Llanwrst

The game was pretty even from that point, Llanwrst seemed to be winning the central midfield battle but we looked the more dangerous when we used our wide men and attacked Llanwrst at pace. On 40 minutes Rhys Healey set Josh Williams away on the right edge of the box, Josh worked himself a bit of space inside the box but instead of shooting he tried to set up James McIntosh and Llanwrst cleared the danger. A minute later it was Josh Williams who did get a shot on target only to see the defender block his effort well.
Just before the half, a quick long kick from keeper Jack Jones was flicked on by Aled Reece and James McIntosh battled with the defender to get to the bouncing ball first and as the Llanwrst keeper rushed out James tried to lift the ball over him but Macca didn’t get enough height on his effort and the keeper collected the ball at full stretch.

Half Time Nomads 1 - 1 Llanwrst

We needed to up our work rate and passing game if we were going to keep our title dream alive and within a minute of the restart we showed our intention as James McIntosh came short to collect a pass and play the ball wide to Jordan Beck, Jordan Played in Rhys Healey who ran at the defence and pulled a great ball back to Ryan Edwards on the edge of the box but Ryan couldn’t keep his first time shot on target.

On 50 minutes Rhys Healey ran at the Llanwrst defence again and as he went between the two defenders inside the area he was brought down. Surely a penalty must be awarded, but the referee awarded a free kick on the very edge of the box. Jordan Beck curled a great shot around the wall and the keeper produced a great save to push the ball wide. We kept the move alive by delivering a great ball back into the box which Rhys Healey rose highest to head down but again Llanwrst cleared the danger. Then after all our early pressure Llanwrst have an attack down the left and cross a ball into our box, our keeper heard a shout from Jordan Beck and left the cross but Jordan was under pressure and as the ball bounced up it was the Llanwrst player who got his foot to the ball first and hook a shot over his shoulder and into our net. Nomads 1 - 2 Llanwrst

We quickly made subs and we started to pressurise the Llanwrst defence, who now had put ten men behind the ball. We tried to break down Llanwrst but it took until the 81st minute to get an equaliser as a great cross from the left by Jordan Beck was headed home powerfully by James McIntosh.
Nomads 2 - 2 Llanwrst

We pressed and pressed with the clock ticking and we had to wait until the last seconds of the game to grab our winner, as a scramble in the box ended with a shot that was blocked on the line but as the ball looked to be going over the line the Llanwrst defender kept it out with his hand. The referee then sent off the Llanwrst player and awarded us a penalty. With all the pressure of the keeping our title hopes alive, Aled Reece stepped up and drilled the ball into the bottom right corner. A fantastic penalty under so much pressure to win us the game.
Final Score Nomads 3 - 2 Llanwrst
