The U18's Get Revenge On Halkyn On The 3G
The young Reds hammer Halkyn 9-3 at home, reversing their loss against them on the first game of the season
Coming into the game both teams had very similar form, with only 1 loss (against Cefn) in their last 6 games, the rest being wins. So Nomads knew they had to be focused in order to navigate their way through the game successfully.
The lads warmed up excellently and looked sharp, they went into the game flying.
Within 10 minutes they were 2 goals up and cruising.
Jack Foster opened the scoring after 6 minutes, a delightful pass from Cameron Jones was expertly plucked down on the run by Foster. Who powered past his marker and drilled the ball in.
Dominic Elsey-McHugh doubled the score 3 minutes later. Iwan Rogers with a trademark outside of the foot dink put Elsey-McHugh behind the away team's back line and he slotted home.
Nomads were very comfortable, knocking the ball around delightfully. Then enter the 5 minutes of madness, two huge mistakes at the back gifted 2 goals for the away side, who took full advantage making it 2-2.
For the rest of the first half the game was extremely scrappy and Halkyn were probably on top in terms of chances. Just before the break Nomads hit a wonderful counter attack, Ben James playing a precision direct pass from his own final third. Releasing Jack Foster who took the ball from just inside the Halkyn half straight to their area, before poking home.
Half time was a welcome sight for Woodward and Manley. A chance to calm the lads down and regroup after a first half capitulation. The message was simple, start the second half how you started the first, without the risks at the back.
This message was executed expertly. With 6 goals hit in the half.
Jack Foster completed his hat trick in this half with a goal as wonderful as his first, power and strength saw him wrestle past his marker with the ball from the left hand side, before stepping into the box and hammering the ball past the keeper. He turned scorer to provider to help Luke Woolley to his second of the game. He showed excellent work in the box again, holding the ball up and spotting Woolley in a better position, he pulled the ball back and Woolley thanked him by thundering the ball in.
Iwan Rogers, Owen Manley and Ben James in the middle were absolutely terrorising the away team, who spent most of the second half in their own final third.
Rogers with one of the moves of the game, a scoop turn through the legs of his man took him into the box, he skipped past 2 challenges before reversing the ball to Woolley, securing his hat trick.
Rogers and Craig Chisholm added 2 more goals to make it 9 in the last 10 minutes. With Chisholm following up first on a rebound and Rogers being released on the counter by Ben James, taking him clean through, as Jack Foster was in the first half. Rogers opted to take the ball around the keeper.
All Nomads can do is continue to march on and stay on top of the pile. Cefn slipped up against Caerwys, losing 2-1, losing 3 points from one of their games in hand. A few more of them from the teams around them and the closing stages of the season will be thrilling.

Man of The Match - Jack Foster
Jack Foster was responsible for 4 goals today, with he scored and 1 he assisted. Foster has had the potential to be brilliant for Nomads, he showed this today. Last season he was one of the most promising prospects for the U16's, he has taken this into College games for the Scholars but struggled to take it into games for the U18's, until today. He was unplayable for the away team and if he continues to apply himself in games like this in future for the 18's he will fulfil that potential we know he has.
