Nomads produce performance of season.
Despite the result, Nomads highly impressive against TNS.
Nomads started well, Oli Evans doing a brilliant defensive job in CDM, tightly marking an opposition player and doing a great job of protecting the Nomads back 2. Nomads putting some brilliant 1 touch passing moves together, one of the moves saw Cook beat his man on the LW and cut in to play a pass to Cronshaw on the other wing, Cronshaw slid the ball across the TNS defence with a first time delivery to which the outstretching Hughes hit the post with a first time effort. A sign of things to come as the Nomads front 3 of Hughes, Cook and Cronshaw caused TNS real problems all morning.
TNS took the lead against the run of play when Jones fouled a TNS player in the area and TNS convered the resulting penalty.
Right on the stroke of 20 minutes Cronshaw beat his man and passed to Hughes, who deservingly got his goal with a cross/ shot that flew into the top left corner. TNS again took the lead against the run of play in the 2nd third, only for Nomads to fire back almost straight away, Cook was through on goal and smashed his shot past the keeper and against the post, only for the ball to bounce back hit a a TNS player and go in as an own goal.
Right at the end of the second third a Oli Evans shot was cleverly flicked into the top corner by Whittingham with a poachers finish to make it 3-2 with 20 minutes left.
Nomads could of been out of sight at this point, missing 4/5 great chances from crosses and through balls.
However the score was only 3-2, and this gave TNS hope going into the last 20. TNS equalised only for Oli Evans to calmly slot home a Cronshaw cross to make the score 4-3.
Inside the last 10 now and nomads looked more than comfortable, failing to confort more chances which ended up haunting them come the end of the game.
An unfortunate own goal by Mercer brought the scores to 4-4, only for TNS to score 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to clinch the game 6-4. Regardless of the result Nomads played some fantastic football throughout the majority of the game, TNS were clinical and finished pretty much all of their chances, however Nomads had all the good football and can all be very pleased with their performances.
Man of the match was very difficult to choose, however just edging it was Curtis Cook, a magical performance on the left wing, giving TNS defenders a torrid time all game, well done Curtis and all of the lads.
