Stoke City Academy Under 14 (0) vs (4) Gap Connah's Quay Nomads Academy Under 14
Nomads produce great performance away to Stoke City.
Nomads had started the game superbly playing at a real high tempo and passing the ball well on the 3G surface.
Jack Chambers came close with two efforts but it took until the fifteenth minute for Nomads to break the dead lock. Thomas Bibby played a fantastic ball over the back four to George Rathbone who stormed forward and one on one finished cooly into the bottom corner.
Rathbone then nearly made it two with a well struck volley which went just over the bar. Substitute Andy Jones had an immediate impact when he dispossessed the Stoke defender before rounding the keeper and finishing into an empty net.
Stokes biggest chances came from corners which were well defended by the Nomads side with great defensive headers from Tom Bibby and Ryan Mackay.
Two nil to Nomads it ended going into half time.
Nomads pushed on even more second half and some of the football was very nice on the eyes. A fantastic move which started from keeper Jordan Manley saw the ball move across the ball into midfield to send Chambers away whose great strike from just outside the area came crashing back off the bar, But trialist Ryan Bailey followed up and finished well.
With ten minutes left Chambers then turned provider when he set Shaun Trousdale through who beat two defenders with great skill before finishing cooly into the bottom corner to seal the win.
A great experience for all players playing away at Nantwich in an evening game. Great football played and a fantastic result to end the sides final game in 2011.
