Best squad display of the season so far for the under 8s
Outrageous under 8s finishing in win against TNS
This morning we played Tns at bangors 3G pitch before the 1st teams welsh cup semi final at bangors university stadium. We kicked off in glorious sunshine and the boys really looked good in the warm up and could tell they were really up for this game after losing to tns 4 weeks ago at home 8-7. Both teams were playing some really good football from the goalkeepers into defence through to midfielders then onto the strikers. probably the best ive seen tns play this year keeping the ball and had plenty of possession against us. some great saves off both keepers stopped either team taking the lead, in the 15 th minute it took an outrageous goal from lennon young, young receieved the ball on the left hand side and seen the goalkeeper off his line and from about 20 yards out lobbed the keeper to make it 1-0 nomads. Tns come straight back at us but left 1 at the back, Alfie Edwards
found himself in space and released Alfie Griffiths through on goal who made no mistake slipping the ball under the keeper to make it 2-0 before half time. Half time we made changes and the boys settled in quickly moving the ball left to right making the pitch bigger and tns were leaving spaces for our boys to go into and put pressure on them. Half way through the half connor dean got past the defender and did well and got to the by line and whipped in a cross, tns players had thought it had gone out but there was no whistle and boys carried on, the cross found Daniel McLaughlin
in the box on his own and from 6 yards out some how scooped the ball over the keeper to make it 3-0 nomads. Tns were still a threat and were putting pressure on us but wil smith and louie gilbert were solid at the back and played superbly. Tns did get a chance when gilbert went forward and left space in behind for the tns forward to run onto but marcelino sdrak come and mde a fantastic clearance, the clearance was high and long and straight over the head of the tns defenders and dan McLaughlin was put through and volleyed home from close range to make it 4-0. Tns did get a consolation goal when a coner come in, jake barlow punched the ball away only into the back of lennon youngs head and from close range a tns player scored to make it 4-1 before the half ended. 3rd period carried on the same as the 2nd with both sides pressing and having numerous chances. Leighton mills was superb in the middle of midfield, his pass to connor dean got the tricky winger down the right and deans cross went into the box and one of the smallest players on the pitch (Daniel McLaughlin
) got his head to it first and his header deflected off a tns defender straight into the middle of the net to complete his hat trick. 5 mins later lennon young cut inside to smash the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 6-1 and that was the final result.
Overall its the best squad performance we have seen from the boys in a while, every boy did there jobs very very well and some fantastic finishing from our boys did the team proud.
